Movie audiences are going wild for Zootopia 2.
The new animated sequel, after opening on Nov. 26, has crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office globally. Per the Walt Disney Company, it’s officially the fastest PG-rated film ever to do so.
Disney’s sequel to 2016’s Zootopia had already broken records as the fourth-highest global opening ever, the biggest global opening ever for an animated film and the biggest opening weekend for any movie globally in 2025. It broke a previous record — by another Disney animated sequel, Moana 2 — for an animated film’s biggest global opening weekend. As of Dec. 12, it has earned $230 million within the U.S.
