NEED TO KNOW
Xochitl Gomez could be making an appearance at future Reagan family dinners.
The Dancing with the Stars winner, 19, made her debut in the Friday, Nov. 21, episode of CBS’ Boston Blue as Penelope “Penny” Bravo, the newly introduced character and love interest of Danny Reagan’s son, Sean.
But Sean, a rookie cop for the Boston Police Department, has some trouble breaking the news to his dad in the series’ sixth episode, appropriately titled “Code of Ethics.”

While much of the episode follows Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green) as they attempt to figure out who’s behind a string of home invasions, it kicks off with Sean (Mika Amonsen) as he and fellow rookie officer Jonah Silver (Marcus Scribner) confronting a potential suspect on the run.
The pair soon realize that the hooded suspect they’ve been chasing — and who Sean eventually tackles — is actually Penny, a woman who was simply going for a jog while wearing headphones. After she confronts the two “idiot” cops for their aggressive response, Sean takes her info and they hit it off by bonding over comic books.
Jonah then informs Sean the girl he thinks is “amazing” is indeed a “felon” and is on probation for being on the lookout in a burglary two years prior. When Penny’s info is brought to Danny as a potential suspect in the ongoing home invasions he’s been investigating, Sean claims Penny has “nothing to do” with the case, but Danny sees through the comment and notices his son’s interest in her.

“You cannot fraternize with felons. Not matter how cute they are,” Danny says.
Later in the episode, Penny swings by the police station to greet Sean and ask him on a date, only to discover he’s having a hard time getting past her criminal record. “I made a mistake and I did my time,” she tells him. “Why am I still being punished for it?”
Eventually, Sean realizes he’s judged Penny too harshly for her past when he has family dinner with the Silvers. That’s where he learns of a loophole in the “rules” for BPD officers that would allow him to take her on a date. Naturally, he decides to approach his dad over the whole ordeal and reveals his crush on Penny.
“You know the girl from before, Penny,” Sean tells Danny. “Look, I want to ask her out. Before you say anything, Boston PD rules are different than NYPD’s, there’s this loophole for recent felons. Dad, I don’t think she should be judged for making one mistake.”
After Danny asks Sean if he “really” likes Penny, he gives her some words of advice: “Don’t let anyone stop you from going after her,” he says. “Not even me.”
The latest episode of Boston Blue, a spinoff of CBS’ long-running Blue Bloods, also featured more screen time for Marisa Ramirez’s Maria Baez as she continues her long-distance relationship with Danny. The romance between Danny and Baez was first confirmed during the show’s premiere episode on Oct. 17.

As for the character of Sean, Amonsen took the role over from Blue Bloods alum Andrew Terraciano for the new series. Terraciano played Sean for 14 seasons before Blue Bloods’ conclusion in 2024.
Boston Blue airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. Episodes are available the following day to watch on-demand via Paramount+.
