NEED TO KNOW
All Her Fault left viewers on the edge of their seats.
Based on the 2021 best-selling book by Andrea Mara, the eight-episode crime drama stars Sarah Snook as Marissa Irvine, an affluent Chicago mother who goes to pick up her 5-year-old son Milo (Duke McCloud) from a playdate, only to discover he has been kidnapped. What follows is an intense, high-stakes mystery as Marissa and her husband, Peter (Jake Lacy), try to find their son — and work through the other lies that begin to unravel.
The series also explores themes of motherhood and friendship, as Marissa forms an unexpected bond with another mother, Jenny Kaminski (Dakota Fanning), whose nanny, Carrie Finch (Sophia Lillis), becomes the prime suspect in the kidnapping case. Ahead of the series’ release, Snook told PEOPLE that the show “speaks to what the female resilience is required to be.”
After eight gripping episodes, the show ended by answering several big questions — but just because viewers got answers, doesn’t mean they aren’t begging for more.
So, will there be a season 2 of All Her Fault? Here’s everything we know about the next chapter of the gripping series.

How did All Her Fault end?

The final episode of All Her Fault wrapped up several major story lines, including finally answering a long-anticipated question: why did Carrie kidnap Milo?
As revealed in the finale, Carrie — whose real name was Josephine Murphy — was Milo’s biological mother.
Nearly six years earlier, she was involved in a car accident with Marissa and her husband Peter. Marissa, who was unconscious immediately after the wreck, was under the impression that Josephine had killed herself after her newborn baby died in the accident. But in reality, it was her newborn who died, though Peter — who thought Josephine was dead — swapped their babies.
But it wasn’t exactly a clean ending that led to the big reveal, as several characters were killed in the final episode after Carrie entered the Irvines’ home with a gun. Carrie accidentally killed Marissa’s longtime friend and colleague Colin Dobbs (Jay Ellis) in a struggle for the gun, which Peter then used to shoot her moments later when she threatened to tell Marissa the truth about him.
The shocking revelations and fatalities didn’t end there. After Peter confessed to the baby swap and Marissa uncovered the rest of his lies — including that it was him who had returned Milo home, blindfolded in the trunk of a car after murdering Carrie’s father, who had demanded a ransom for his son — Marissa decided the only way to escape her marriage without losing Milo was to “accidentally” kill Peter.
In a major twist, Peter suffered a severe allergic reaction to soy after kissing Marissa, who had “accidentally” eaten something containing soy without checking the label at Colin’s funeral.
Will there be a season 2 of All Her Fault?

All Her Fault has not been renewed for a second season, and Mara didn’t publish a sequel to her novel. Although it was marketed as a limited series, showrunner Megan Gallagher teased to Collider in November 2025 that she isn’t opposed to returning for more.
When asked about the chances of another season, whether it be following the original characters or perhaps anthology-style, Gallagher responded, “Wouldn’t that be nice?”
“I would be up for that, so we’ll see,” she said. “For now, I have to give you the kind of stock answer and say that we’re excited for everybody to dive into Season 1.”
Who would be in the cast of All Her Fault season 2?

Since a second season of All Her Fault has not yet been greenlit, there’s no confirmation about which cast members might return — or who could join the series.
If the show were to continue the original story line, it’s likely that Snook and Fanning would reprise their respective roles as Marissa and Jenny.
However, several key characters were killed off in season 1 — including Colin, Carrie and Peter — meaning Ellis, Lillis and Lacy’s returns would be unlikely, unless they were featured in the form of flashbacks.
Alternatively, if season 2 took an anthology-style approach, the series could pivot to a completely new story with an entirely fresh cast.
