NEED TO KNOW
Too Much has become an instant Netflix hit.
The series, which premiered on the streamer on July 10, follows Jessica (Megan Stalter), a producer struggling to move on after her boyfriend, Zev (Michael Zegen), broke up with her and moved on with Wendy (Emily Ratajkowski). After her former brother-in-law Jameson (Andrew Rannells) presents her with an opportunity to move from New York City to London, she meets musician Felix (Will Sharpe).
The pair hit it off, and they quickly find themselves enveloped in a whirlwind romance. However, Jessica is still struggling with her breakup from Zev, while Felix is also battling his own personal issues with sobriety.
Too Much is written and created by Lena Dunham and loosely based on her own move to London in 2021 when she fell in love with her husband, Luis Felber, who also co-created the show with her.
Following the big reveal at the end of the first season, has the series been renewed for a second? Here’s everything to know about Too Much season 2 — including what Lena Dunham has said.

After Jessica moves to London to produce a Christmas commercial, she meets and falls in love with an indie musician named Felix. The two strike up an instant romance but face issues when Jessica’s career takes over, and Felix relapses and cheats on her. The two break up, and she decides that she should pack up and return to N.Y.C.
However, before she heads back to the United States, Jessica gets a message from her ex-boyfriend Zev’s new girlfriend, Wendy. The two meet up, and Wendy reveals that she ended their relationship. The pair bond over how poorly Zev treated them, and Wendy also encourages Jessica to give it another shot with Felix.
The series ends with a dramatic finale in which Jessica decides to go find Felix and make up. She meets him at a climate change protest where they both take responsibility for the cracks in their relationship. Amid their passionate reunion, Jessica gets arrested. As the police officers are taking her into custody, Felix asks her to marry him.
In the final episode, Felix and Jessica get married in an intimate ceremony in front of family and friends.

Although there aren’t any public plans to renew Too Much for season 2, Dunham has spoken about what the next season could look like.
“In terms of the second season, we’re not there yet,” Dunham told The Hollywood Reporter in July 2025. “But when I think about where these characters would go, when Luis and I talk about it, what we’re really thinking about is that marriage is not the end of a love story — it’s the beginning.”
The co-creator continued, “Especially with two characters who don’t know each other well and who feel like they have because of this kind of radical intimacy they’ve experienced, they actually haven’t dealt with an enormous amount of life as a team.”
Dunham explained that they’d like to continue developing Jessica and Felix’s relationship as they go through marriage and are “thrust into the reality of each other’s worlds.” She reiterated her sentiments to The Wrap in a July interview and said that she would “love to do another season and sort of shift it away from meet cute and into marriage story.”
“Marriage is not the end of a love story,” Dunham explained. “In many ways, it’s the beginning, and a marriage is an incredibly complicated negotiation.”
Meanwhile, Stalter also expressed her interest in doing another season and told The Wrap, “I love the ending because it’s exciting to think of … wait, what’s next? If they’re married, then what now? What’s going to happen?”
Ratajkowski also shared that Dunham would want her back for a second season as Wendy.
“Lena was like, ‘I have a whole story for Wendy if we get a second season,’ ” Ratajkowski told Decider. “I was like, ‘Okay, keep me posted, girl.’ ”
What would season 2 of Too Much be about?
Netflix
If Too Much gets renewed for a second season, it would follow Jessica and Felix as they navigate their lives as newlyweds.
“These two don’t know each other’s families yet,” Dunham told The Hollywood Reporter. “They don’t know each other’s friends. They don’t know what the other person is like in a certain kind of conflict. They don’t know how the other person handles the big challenges. They’ve never decorated a home or talked about whether they want children.”
Dunham explained that she’d continue drawing from her own experience for a second season, including the ups and downs of getting married after only a few months and having a “constant education and full of surprises about who the other one is.”
“But I think that [it’s interesting] to get to see something that we often don’t get to see in romantic comedy films, which is: What happens after the kiss at the end, after the curtain is drawn, and how do these people behave? I also think marriage — and the demands of marriage — is changing so much,” Dunham said.
