Stick is teeing up for another season!
The Apple TV+ hit comedy show stars Owen Wilson as Pryce “Stick” Cahill, a former professional golfer whose career came to a sudden end after a physical outburst. Fast forward 20 years and Cahill is going through a divorce from his wife, Amber-Linn (Judy Greer), struggling financially and facing a career crisis.
However, he starts to feel optimistic for the first time when he discovers a talented 17-year-old golfer, Santi Wheeler (Peter Dager). Cahill quickly becomes determined to coach Santi, but he also has to get the approval from Santi’s mother, Elena Wheeler (Mariana Treviño). Cahill also brings along his friend and former caddy, Mitts (Marc Maron), for the ride.
After getting Elena’s approval, Cahill works with Santi on his golf game, and the two go through several ups and downs before cementing their professional relationship. The series also stars Timothy Olyphant and Lilli Kay, with appearances from professional golfers like Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley and Max Homa.
Stick became an instant feel-good show, with several people comparing it to the hit show Ted Lasso. In July 2025, Apple TV+ announced that it would be renewing Stick for season 2.

What happened at the end of Stick season 1?
Apple TV+
Throughout the first season of Stick, Cahill is coaching Santi while also developing a personal relationship with him. After working together for a while, they prepare for the ReadySafe Invitational, where his talents are put to the test.
However, Santi’s game faces a major setback when his absentee father, Gary Wheeler (Mackenzie Astin), unexpectedly shows up and vocally criticizes Santi on all of his shots. Gary’s constant critiques take a toll on Santi’s performance, and he ends up losing the tournament.
Despite losing the highly anticipated tournament, Santi still finds a way to stand out when he shoots an eagle on the 18th hole. The impressive final hole helps Santi score a massive social media following and recognition from professional golfers.
In addition to Santi’s career, the season finale also teases that Cahill may be interested in the possibility of returning to golf. Even though he was barred from professional golf tournaments two decades prior, he has no problem hitting the ball and often hits shots that leave Santi and his rival, Clark Ross (Olyphant), speechless. With Santi on the rise and Cahill looking for ways to get back into the game, the finale could be teeing up a coach and mentee rivalry.
Meanwhile, Santi gets romantically involved with Zero (Kay), a bartender-turned-caddy, and his mom starts a relationship with Cahill’s friend Mitts. The finale leaves both relationships — as well as Santi and his dad’s relationship — up in the air.
Will there be a Stick season 2?
Apple TV+
Stick was officially renewed for a second season on July 23.
Apple TV+ head of programming Matt Cherniss said in a statement at the time, “With the first season of Stick, audiences instantly fell in love with the charming, funny and heartfelt world that Jason, Owen and their all-star team created this season. There’s plenty more in the bag for fans of the series and we’re thrilled they’ll soon have the chance to discover Pryce Cahill’s next chapter.”
Meanwhile, Jason Keller, who created the series, said that he was “thrilled to be making a second season with this magical cast.”
“It’s a joy to be able to continue this story,” Keller said. “Most importantly, however, this season two order will provide me with an undeniable excuse to play even more golf. Thank you, Apple TV+.”
The streaming service also confirmed that Wilson, Dager, Maron, Treviño and Kay would all be reprising their roles, as well as adding a few new characters. They have not shared who the new cast members are or any details on the plot.
While the official synopsis for season 2 hasn’t been released, Keller teased that Wilson’s character may be returning to the professional golf world after all.
“I’m still thinking about precisely what Season 2 would be,” Keller told Deadline in July 2025. “I would love to see Pryce Cahill playing high level golf. It would be fun to see Owen out there, playing in a tournament and seeing just how good this guy is … That’s something that I’d want to explore in Season 2 for sure.”
Keller also said that he “would love” to focus more on Ross’ rivalry with both Santi and Cahill, as well as Cahill’s relationship with his ex-wife, Amber-Linn, played by Greer.
“I never want Amber-Linn to not be in this story. Should we be blessed to do a Season 2 I would want Judy to come back, because I just love that dynamic between those two,” he told the outlet.
What has Owen Wilson said about Stick season 2?
Apple TV+
Wilson, who is both the lead and the executive producer of Stick, said that it was “really nice” to hear that the series was getting renewed for season 2.
“I think we all had a great time making it,” Wilson said in the press release. “It’s really nice to see the show connecting with people and to know that we get a chance to continue the story!”
Before the series was officially renewed for season 2, Wilson spoke about his passion for the television series.
“Sports is just the backdrop. How do you connect with any human being?” Wilson told Men’s Health in June 2025. “Figuring out how to navigate these relationships is what it’s like to be human.”
He added, “I love watching sports, and not knowing what’s going to happen. I also love seeing the drama, and the way people deal with losing, and disappointment, and failure. It’s also great to see somebody win. I think that’s why sports are so loved around the world.”
