Hunter Fieri met his wife, Tara Bernstein, thanks in part to his dad, Guy Fieri.
The two — who met at Guy’s Super Bowl tailgate in 2023 — hit it off and dated for nine months before becoming engaged later that year. Nearly two years later, the couple got married in August 2025.
“[Tara] has so much drive, so much passion, so much energy … And that’s what I look for in a person,” Fieri told PEOPLE in 2023.
When they met, Bernstein wasn’t familiar with the famous Food Network family, something Fieri thought was “pretty cool.”
“I had no idea that they even had any shows, who they were,” Bernstein told PEOPLE. “It was actually embarrassing. I grew up in a sports house playing sports my whole life. So for me, I never turned on the Food Network.”
Fieri found it refreshing “because from right then and there, I knew she wasn’t looking for something alternative.”
Bernstein has since gotten to know her father-in-law well, noting that Guy is “super big on being family-oriented.”
“There’s just so many different fun versions of him, and we always have a blast all together as a family,” she told PEOPLE in 2025.
So who is Hunter Fieri’s wife? Here is everything to know about Tara Bernstein and her relationship with the Food Network star.

After graduating from Bayside High School in 2014, Bernstein attended Pace University in New York, per her LinkedIn. She studied communications, journalism and sports communication, and landed internships with the Mets, NY1 News and NBC Sports Radio during her college career. She was also an on-air host for the school’s athletic media department.
Additionally, she played on the university’s softball team, winning an NCAA championship.

While Bernstein played softball in college, she pursued a career in pickleball — a sport her father introduced her to — upon graduation.
“He invited me to play at the local Glen Oaks courts and at first I was a little skeptical. However, when I stepped on that court I fell in love,” she told Jejune Magazine in 2023.
“I played a sport my entire life and trained everyday. After finishing my softball career, I still worked in sports but I missed competing and I felt I was missing part of my identity,” she added. “Playing pickleball has helped with that and I love that it allows me to compete and play at a high level.”
She works as a content creator

Bernstein blends her passions for journalism and pickleball by working as an influencer and content creator for the sport.
She has collaborated on content with Eli Manning, Rob Gronkowski and Drew Brees, who co-owns the Major League Pickleball team, the Los Angeles Mad Drops.
Additionally, Bernstein founded and serves as the event producer and creative director of the events marketing company TBCreative in 2024, per her LinkedIn.

Fieri and Bernstein first met at Guy’s annual tailgate at the 2023 Super Bowl in Glendale, Ariz., where Bernstein was helping teach celebrities and athletes how to play pickleball for a brand event. After, she stopped by the renowned tailgate with her friends.
“We’re all dancing, having a great time,” Bernstein told PEOPLE. “I turned around and I’m like, ‘Hey, can you take a video of me?’ And it was Hunter.”
Fieri obliged and then returned her phone, with the two parting ways.
“We didn’t exchange contact info, nothing,” Bernstein added.
While the pair ventured into the stadium to watch the game with their respective groups, Bernstein went to a concession stand to get food and charge her phone, where she ran into Fieri again.
The chef and restaurateur called their second run-in “super random,” and the two ended up talking for the rest of the game, with Fieri pointing out that they “connected on a deep level really quickly.”
“And next thing we know, the game’s over. We missed the half-time,” he said.
They got engaged in 2023

After dating for roughly nine months, Fieri proposed to Bernstein on Thanksgiving Day in 2023. He popped the question at the family’s Sonoma ranch where both families celebrated together after the big moment.
“We both knew that we were going to marry each other,” Fieri told PEOPLE. “We just knew and we were just waiting for the timing of when I could do it,” he said, referring to their full schedules. “The only time I could [propose] was Thanksgiving.”
“I was in tears after… It was just really, really beautiful,” Bernstein recalled of the special moment.
Guy swiftly congratulated the pair, writing on Instagram, “You two are made for each other. Welcome to the family, Tara.”
The couple celebrated with a pickleball-themed engagement party in Central Park the following year.

Bernstein and Fieri got married in front of 350 guests on Aug. 30, 2025, at the same place he proposed: HuntRyde Ranch.
Bernstein and Fieri went with an “upscale country” vibe for their California wedding, which consisted of custom cowboy boots for the wedding party, a “little petting zoo,” glamping trailers on the property for guest accommodations and a large tent where the newlyweds spent their first night as a married couple.
“We just want to hang out with our friends, have some good food, and just enjoy ourselves,” Fieri told PEOPLE of their big day in 2025. “It’s just all of the people who mean the most to us.”
Bernstein wore a strapless ballgown by Justin Alexander for the ceremony, while Fieri and his groomsmen donned suits from SuitShop.
For the cake, Buddy Valastro — the “Cake Boss” — created a six-tiered cake that stood nearly five feet tall and was embellished with chalkboard illustrations of some of the couple’s passions: cooking and pickleball.
“I’m just excited to continue building as individuals and as people together,” Bernstein told PEOPLE.

Bernstein, who shared that she was never “a big food person or cooking girl,” remarked that her father-in-law helped her expand her culinary chops.
“He’s taught me a lot about knife skills,” she told PEOPLE in 2025. “[Guy] encourages me to learn different things and try new foods because I have been a picky eater.”
She shared that when she first started having meals with the Fieri family, she felt like she was the only one eating pasta and fries. However, Guy introduced her to foods such as tuna that she now opts for, including when she dines out with her husband.
“The look on my face, I mean, you should have seen it,” Fieri told PEOPLE. “I was just like, ‘You were ordering what? Tuna?’ See, I couldn’t get her to eat tuna for the longest time.”
Bernstein said “it’s been nice” stepping outside of her comfort zone.
“I learned some nice skills,” she said. “I can do all of that, and then after take them down on the pickleball court,” Bernstein added, noting that she helped her husband and father-in-law sharpen their court skills in return.

While promoting their pickleball exhibition at the 2024 Olympia World Fitness Expo, Fieri told Muscle & Fitness magazine how his pickleball journey came to be.
“I may have played it before in elementary school, but she got me and my dad into it,” he said of Bernstein, adding that his dad “had two courts built on their ranch.”
“My dad and I can play her two-on-one, and she could play with her left hand, right hand behind her back, and still beat us,” he added.
