28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later are streaming at last – here’s where to watch them before 28 Years Later releases in theaters later this month. Written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle, 28 Days Later (2003) was an influential film that redefined and reinvigorated the zombie genre with its fast-moving infected and character-driven drama. It was followed by the standalone sequel, 28 Weeks Later (2007), which was co-written and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and followed a new group of survivors.
Now, the original writer and director, Garland and Boyle, have returned for the upcoming 28 Years Later, which will introduce another group of survivors and serve as the start of a new trilogy, which already includes 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, directed by Nia DaCosta. Despite being a cult classic, 28 Days Later has been notoriously difficult to watch, as it only became available to buy or rent on digital platforms in December 2024, while physical copies are also hard to find. However, both 28 Days Later and its sequel are finally streaming.

28 Days Later’s 4 Different Endings Explained (And Which One Is Canon For 28 Years Later)
28 Days Later is arguably one of the greatest zombie movies of all time, but it nearly had a different ending, and there are 4 possible endings.
28 Days Later stars Oscar winner Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) as a bicycle courier named Jim who awakens from a coma to find that society has collapsed due to the accidental spread of the highly contagious, aggression-inducing disease known as the Rage Virus. Jim is soon rescued by and finds refuge with fellow survivors, played by Naomie Harris, Noah Huntley, Brendan Gleeson, and Megan Burns. They eventually come into conflict with a group of renegade soldiers led by Christopher Eccleston’s character.
Before watching the movie, be aware that 28 Days Later looks low-quality, and it’s not the fault of Pluto TV. It was one of the first films shot digitally, using a low-budget consumer-grade camera like the Canon XL1 to create a documentary-style feel, contributing to the film’s overall gritty aesthetic. While this choice was intentional, it means that the movie has a lower resolution and grainier image compared to modern movies shot using higher-resolution digital cameras.
28 Weeks Later Is Streaming On Hulu
It Was Added On June 1
As of June 1, the sequel 28 Weeks Later is streaming on Hulu. The streaming service offers several subscription levels, including ad-supported and ad-free. Hulu with ads is the most basic plan and costs $7.99 per month, meaning there will be advertisements shown throughout the movie. Hulu with no ads is $10.00 per month and provides access to watching movies in the library without commercials being shown throughout the movie.
The standalone sequel is set after the events of the first film, following the United States-led NATO forces as they work to create a secure zone in London. The plot centers on two siblings (played by Imogen Poots and Mackintosh Muggleton) who, in their search for a photograph of their mother, inadvertently break protocol and trigger the return of the Rage Virus within the safe zone. The surprisingly star-studded cast also includes Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau, Catherine McCormack, and Idris Elba.
