NEED TO KNOW
It’s been 20 years since Weeds hit the small screen.
Created by Jenji Kohan, the dark comedy-drama series told the story of Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker), a suburban mom in the fictional town of Agrestic, Calif., who turns to selling marijuana to support her two sons, Silas Botwin (Hunter Parrish) and Shane Botwin (Alexander Gould), after the sudden death of her husband.
Weeds debuted on Aug. 8, 2005, running for eight seasons before airing its final episode in September 2012. There were talks of a sequel series for years, but Parker, who won a Golden Globe for her performance as Nancy, told The Direct in July 2025 that it was canceled.
“I thought it was a great idea,” she added. “[The cancelation] was very abrupt.”
Here’s everything to know about what the cast of Weeds has been up to, 20 years after the show premiered.
