You think we’d forget the 30th anniversary of Clueless? As if!
On July 19, 1995, Amy Heckerling’s modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma quickly defined the “whatever” generation. The movie follows the spoiled and fashionable Beverly Hills teen, Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone), whose heart is as big as her closet. Using her matchmaking skills, penchant for makeovers and social status, Cher helps those around her find love while navigating the politics of high school.
Though the film captured a moment in time, Cher’s magnetic charm and the script’s forever quotable one-liners and ’90s slang have continued to win over audiences of all ages. Now, Silverstone — who told PEOPLE in June 2025 that she never thought she’d step back into the character’s designer threads — is preparing to reprise the role on an upcoming sequel series on Peacock. (Details are still under wraps.)
So, as we get ready for the reboot, here’s what Silverstone and the rest of the Clueless cast have been up to since signing off with “I’m Audi” decades ago.

Before Clueless turned her into a teen icon, Silverstone earned a few movie credits, including 1993’s Crush, and even starred in a couple of Aerosmith music videos. However, playing Cher was her breakout moment, even if she felt “like an exhausted little professional” at the time.
“I loved playing Cher. I loved the material. But I was tired, I’d been doing like nine movies back to back when I did Clueless,” she told PEOPLE in 2020. “I was tired but grateful for the acting opportunity, and I had no idea what it would become. I had no idea … but I am so grateful that people love it so much.”
After playing the lovable SoCal queen bee, Silverstone went on to star in films like Batman & Robin (1997), Vamps (2012), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), Reptile (2023) and Pretty Thing (2025). In the early 2000s, she voiced the character of Sharon Spitz on the animated series Braceface and starred on Miss Match. Silverstone later reunited with her former Clueless costar, Jeremy Sisto, in 2012 on the ABC sitcom Suburgatory and continued to appear on the small screen on Paramount Network’s American Woman and Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club.
In addition to her acting work, Silverstone is a passionate animal and environmental rights activist who launched The Kind Life, a lifestyle website dedicated to vegan eating and environmental awareness. For 2023’s Super Bowl LVII, she reprised her Clueless role in a Rakuten ad — plaid outfit, gum, pom-pom pen and all, something she’s gearing up to do again on Peacock’s follow-up series.
Silverstone married musician Christopher Jarecki in 2005 (though they filed for divorce in 2018) and welcomed their son, Bear Blu, in 2011.
Stacey Dash as Dionne Davenport
Paramount Pictures; Astrida Valigorsky/Getty
Stacey Dash appeared in Moving (1988), Mo’ Money (1992) and Renaissance Man (1994) before playing the no-nonsense Dionne in Clueless — a film she’s proud shaped a new kind of teen story.
“[Clueless] started a trend, but I don’t think anyone hit it quite like we did,” she told Elle in 2015. “We weren’t mean girls. We weren’t snobbish. We were just teenagers who had opinions, but we always wanted to help. We always thought we could make you better. We were willing to give you a try if you were willing to change the way we wanted you to.”
After originating Dionne, Dash reprised the role for the Clueless spinoff sitcom, which ran from 1996 to 1999, and later reunited with costar Silverstone in a 2022 TikTok video captioned “Forever Cher and Dionne BFFs.” (Dash was also set to play the character again for a Peacock reboot based on Dionne; however, it was ultimately scrapped.)
Since then, she’s kept busy, appearing in 2003’s View from the Top, The Game TV show and in music videos such as Kanye West’s “All Falls Down.” She also launched the web series Stacey Dash Is Normal and appeared as a guest commentator on Fox News from 2014 to 2017.
In 2019, Dash was arrested on suspicion of alleged domestic violence after reportedly getting into a physical altercation with her husband, Jeffrey Marty. TMZ reported that Dash “pushed him and slapped his face” during the argument, leaving him with “red scratch marks” on his left arm. Marty bailed her out of jail shortly after. Dash pleaded not guilty to a domestic battery charge, and the charge was dropped the following day.
On June 16, 2020, Dash filed for divorce after two years of marriage. Dash has two adult children: son Austin and daughter Lola.
Brittany Murphy as Tai Frasier
Paramount Pictures; Michael Bezjian/WireImage
After her breakthrough role as the bubbly, naïve Tai, Brittany Murphy’s film career took off, landing her starring roles in 8 Mile (2002), Uptown Girls (2003), Just Married (2003) and Sin City (2005).
Murphy also had a budding musical career, and her dance single with Paul Oakenfold, “Faster Kill Pussycat,” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s dance chart.
She married writer/director Simon Monjack in 2007 and died tragically of cardiac arrest in 2009 at age 32.
Many of her Clueless castmates have shared memories of her over the years, including Elisa Donovan, who told PEOPLE in May 2025, “I really always think about Brittany. She would come into hair and makeup like this whirlwind of all this energy, and they would always be worried like, ‘No, no, no, don’t mess up your hair!’ [She’d be like], ‘No, I got it. I got it. I’ll fix it.’ And then would run out. She just had so much vibrance.”
Paul Rudd as Josh Lucas
Paramount Pictures; Dia Dipasupil/Getty
After making Cher (and audiences) swoon as Josh — a college student studying law and Cher’s stepbrother who becomes a pivotal part in her growth — in Clueless, Paul Rudd made Lisa Kudrow’s Phoebe fall in love with him as Mike Hannigan on the last two seasons of Friends.
“It’s crazy. I fell in love with me,” Rudd told PEOPLE in 2015 of his breakout gig. “Clueless was a game changer.”
Since then, Rudd has starred in major comedies like 2004’s Anchorman and its 2013 sequel, The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Knocked Up (2007) and This Is 40 (2012). He also had memorable TV stints as Bobby Newport on Parks and Recreation and Ben Glenroy on Only Murders in the Building.
Oh, and he’s a superhero, too, starring as Ant-Man in several Marvel projects. Other credits include The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) and Death of a Unicorn (2025).
Rudd married screenwriter Julie Yaeger in 2003. The couple shares two children, welcoming son Jack in 2006 and daughter Darby in 2010. He was also named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2021.
Donald Faison as Murray Duvall
Paramount Pictures; Paras Griffin/Getty
In true Murray fashion, Donald Faison followed his on-screen girlfriend Dash to the Clueless sitcom, and he’s been eager to revisit his Clueless character ever since.
“I would want to say do another movie, to be honest with you,” Faison told PEOPLE in 2024. “Anything. Clueless 2 would be awesome, and it’s not us anymore, it’s our kids. And now Cher is the Mel Horowitz character. I would think that Cher and Josh would still be together, even though it’s a little weird.
After landing small but memorable roles in Waiting to Exhale (1995), Josie and the Pussycats (2001) and Uptown Girls with former costar Murphy, Faison got his next big break playing Dr. Chris Turk on Scrubs for nine seasons. He went on to star on the TV Land sitcom The Exes from 2011 to 2015 and NBC’s Extended Family from 2023 to 2024.
Faison was married to Lisa Askey from 2001 to 2005, and in 2012, he wed Jessica Simpson’s bestie, CaCee Cobb (his Scrubs costar, Zach Braff, was his best man). They have two children, son Rocco and daughter Wilder, and he has four older children from previous relationships.
Elisa Donovan as Amber Mariens
Paramount Pictures; Rodin Eckenroth/Getty
After stamping the iconic “whatever” hand gesture, Donovan reprised her role as Amber for the Clueless sitcom and the 2023 Rakuten Super Bowl ad with Silverstone — and she still feels proud to be tied to the 1995 film, even three decades later.
“I don’t know what it is to not be associated, but it’s wonderful because [Clueless] has brought people a lot of joy,” she told PEOPLE in May 2025. “To me, I feel like it’s something that is based [on] a beautiful piece of literature. So I’ve always been super excited about that, and it’s incredible. This is a really challenging and wonderful business, and it’s nice to do something that really means something to people, so it’s been great.”
Post Clueless, she appeared in 1998’s A Night at the Roxbury and on Beverly Hills, 90210. Donovan also played Morgan Cavanaugh on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as well as Joey Fatone’s love interest in *NSYNC’s music video for “I Drive Myself Crazy.” In addition to starring in The Dog Who Saved films, Donovan has also blogged about parenting for PEOPLE and released the memoir Wake Me When You Leave in 2021.
In 2012, Donovan married Charlie Bigelow and gave birth to their daughter, Scarlett Avery.
Jeremy Sisto as Elton Tiscia
Paramount Pictures; Dia Dipasupil/Getty
Years after first playing the obnoxious rich kid Elton in Clueless, Sisto thinks it’s “pretty cool” to have his name attached to such a timeless project.
“Clueless somehow kind of can span more years than a lot of things,” he told PEOPLE Now in 2019. “It’s pretty cool, I mean, listen, to be a part of something that translates from one generation to the next … being on things that stay with the culture as the culture changes around you is a rare thing.”
The actor went on to keep audiences on their toes, starring on the show Six Feet Under and in the 2007 film Waitress. From 2008 to 2010, he played Det. Cyrus Lupo on the NBC stalwart Law & Order, and from 2011 to 2014, he had a major part on the ABC sitcom Suburgatory. Since 2018, Sisto has led the cast of the CBS procedural FBI.
In 1993, he married actress Marisa Ryan, but the couple divorced in 2002. He later wed Addie Lane in 2009. The pair share two children, daughter Charlie Ballerina and son Bastian Kick.
Breckin Meyer as Travis Birkenstock
Paramount Pictures; Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty
Breckin Meyer played the slacker stoner Travis Birkenstock in Clueless, which was based on actors like Sean Penn in 1982’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Keanu Reeves in the 1989 films Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Parenthood.
“I got a call for it, and in my head, I think I kind of knew who the guy was, I knew that sweetness. I was going to Beverly High and lying about my address at the time. I had lived in Beverly Hills, so I kind of just took [Jeff] Spiccoli and Keanu from Bill & Ted’s and him in Parenthood,” Meyer revealed during a Clueless panel with The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in June 2025. “There was this thing that Keanu did, which was this very liquidy shrug … and that became almost this puppy dog golden retriever human.”
Meyer added, “It was the sweetness in [Travis] that I really connected with.”
After the Emmy-nominated star finally left the grassy knoll, he landed a breakthrough leading role as Josh Parker in Road Trip (2000), Rat Race (2001), the Garfield films and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009). He also spent three seasons on the TNT dramedy Franklin & Bash (with fellow ’90s fave Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and appeared on the final season of Good Girls. In addition to acting, Meyer is an accomplished musician and drums for Tom Morello’s side project, The Nightwatchman.
Meyer married writer and director Deborah Kaplan in 2001, though the couple divorced in 2012. They have two daughters, Caitlin and Clover. As of February 2024, Meyer is dating influencer Kelly Rizzo, the widow of Bob Saget.
Dan Hedaya as Melvin Horowitz
Paramount Pictures; Jim Spellman/Getty
Known at the time for his stints on Cheers and The Tortellis, Dan Hedaya appeared in Clueless as Cher’s strict lawyer dad. When his character, Melvin, wasn’t preparing for legal cases with his understudy and stepson, Josh, he was arguing with Cher over what constitutes a dress.
The actor has praised the movie for its cross-generational appeal.
“The movie, for a teenager, is bursting with life. You know, it’s about those important teenage years,” Hedaya told Today in 2020. “And there’s a great spirit about the movie. Clothing and music and dancing and boys and girls — it’s got all the elements that [are] part of a teenager’s life. So, that to me explains its continuing popularity.”
Hedaya has had a long career in film, starring in The Usual Suspects (1995), The First Wives Club (1996) and Mulholland Drive (2001). He had a guest-starring role on Monk as the title character’s long-lost father and also appeared in 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Wallace Shawn as Mr. Wendell Hall
Paramount Pictures; John Lamparski/Getty
Wallace Shawn was a known actor and playwright before his days of wrangling high school students and falling in love with Miss Geist (Twink Caplan), appearing in such films as 1987’s The Princess Bride.
The actor has continued to look back fondly on his days as Bronson Alcott High’s Mr. Hall, and the fans who’ve cherished it for 30 years.
“The Clueless fans … tend to be rather smart and people of good will,” he told Today in 2020. “I meet people all the time who love that movie, probably because it’s a world where people are very fond of each other and the paranoia and hatred of the real world is left far behind.”
His credits also include everything from voicing Rex in the Toy Story franchise, and Gilbert Hugh in The Incredibles, to recurring stints on Gossip Girl, Young Sheldon and Evil.
In 2005, he was named a Master American Dramatist by the PEN/Laura Pels International Foundation, and he has appeared on MSNBC as a political commentator.
Shawn lives with his partner, writer and professor Deborah Eisenberg.
Justin Walker as Christian Stovitz
Paramount Pictures
Justin Walker is still best known for playing Christian, Cher’s love interest, who dresses even better than she does.
He had some small acting roles through 2005 but eventually left Hollywood behind. In 2010, he became the owner of Teddy Teadle’s Grill in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Twink Caplan as Miss Toby Geist
Paramount Pictures; Rodrigo Vaz/FilmMagic
After Miss Geist’s wedding to Mr. Hall, Caplan reprised her Clueless role on the TV series and served as the show’s executive producer.
“The one amazing thing about Clueless is you can watch it over and over and over, and the lines still resonate,” she told Today in 2020. “And it’s still relevant today.”
She has also appeared in Look Who’s Talking (1989), A Night at the Roxbury and Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie (2012). In 2010, she had a memorable guest-starring role on Community as a dance teacher.
