Jessa added, “So, when people say, ‘Do you want to be like your mother?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, please, Lord, help me.’ Even if people are saying that in sort of a negative way, I’m like ’Yes, please Lord.’ ”

Jessa and her 18 siblings starred in her parents’ reality series, 19 Kids and Counting, from 2008 to 2015. The series ended following claims that Michelle and Jim Bob’s eldest son, Josh Duggar, had molested multiple girls as a teenager, including four of his sisters.
Jessa and her older sister, Jill Duggar, came forward as two of his victims and said that they had forgiven their brother before the news surfaced.
“We didn’t feel like there was any need to share private information with people who weren’t part of the problem or the solution,” Jessa said during a June 2015 interview on The Kelly File. “When I heard the police report had been released, I said, ‘What right do they have to do this? We’re victims. They can’t do this to us.’ ”
The Duggar siblings, including Jessa, went on to star in a TLC spinoff series titled Counting On, which ran from 2015 to 2021. That series ended after Josh was arrested and later convicted of possessing child pornography in 2021. He was sentenced to over 12 years in prison.

The Duggar family’s 10-season reality TV run introduced the world to their controversial religion, known as the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP). Founded in 1961, the religious fundamentalist group promotes strict guidelines that prohibit everything from alcohol and drugs to television and music “with a strong drum beat.”
As they’ve become adults, some of the Duggar children, including Jill and Jinger, have publicly distanced themselves from IBLP. Though Jessa hasn’t spoken publicly about her position on the religion, she has broken several of IBPL’s rules, including wearing pants and shorter dresses.
In a September 2023 Q&A session on her Instagram Stories, one follower asked if Jess and Ben still followed IBLP. The former reality star simply replied, “No, we do not.”
