Kirsten Dunst might be eyeballing the cash with her next role.
The actress spoke with Town & Country for its September cover story ahead of the release of her movie Roofman, the latest in her projects after a past filmography that has included blockbusters like Interview with the Vampire (1994), Jumanji (1995) and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.
Dunst, 43, told the magazine that she’d like to be in Minecraft 2 — a sequel to the hit video-game flick that is still currently the top-grossing film of 2025 — and noted that her two sons Ennis, 7, and James, 4, really enjoyed the first movie.
But more than having to have a specific project, “Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money?” Dunst quipped.

Dunst has spoken out about finances in her career in recent years, telling the BBC in 2024 that she “didn’t even think to ask” about equal pay near the beginning of her professional life.
And while she hopes that “the way I carved my path will help other actresses,” the Oscar nominee said that she “definitely grew up in a time with major pay disparity between the lead actor and myself, even though I had been in Bring It On and he hadn’t, you know what I mean?”
“I had more success in my box office than he did,” Dunst continued, without naming anyone specific. “And I was 17. I’m still learning. When you’re that age, I’m still learning my taste in film.”
“I didn’t even know there was a place to challenge [the pay disparity]. That’s how it felt at 17,” she added to the outlet.

Directed by Derek Cianfrance, Dunst’s new crime drama Roofman follows former Army Ranger Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum) who ends up in prison after robbing a string of McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs.
Nicknamed the Roofman, he escapes the jailhouse and secretly lives in a Toys “R” Us for several months while planning his next move. Things go awry when Jeffrey falls in love with employee and divorced mother Leigh (Dunst) amid the manhunt.
Up next for Dunst is another project with frequent collaborator Sofia Coppola, as well as a mermaid thriller with Anora breakout (and Academy Award winner) Mikey Madison.
And Coppola, 54, told Town & Country that Dunst — with whom she has done films like The Virgin Suicides (1999) and Marie Antoinette (2006) — “makes cool choices” that are “never hokey.”
“She can be fully sincere and in touch with emotions without ever being embarrassing,” Coppola added. “I love working with her and I know she gets me, and I’m excited for her to be the age she is now … I feel like she’s in her Gena Rowlands age and can do complex roles.”
Roofman is in theaters Oct. 10.
