Sheinelle Jones is stepping back into Studio 1A.
Nearly four months after the Today host lost her husband of nearly 18 years, Uche Ojeh to cancer, she will be returning to the morning talk show series Sept. 5.
“We’ve got some other great news that we are so excited to share with you this morning,” Craig Melvin said during the Sept. 2 episode of Today. “It involves a member of our own Today family.”
Which led Craig’s cohost Savannah Guthrie to confirm their cohost’s return and to share how Sheinelle—mom to three kids with her late husband—is doing.
“We recently sat down together and shared a really personal conversation, talking about how she has carried on and found strength these past few months,” Savannah continued. “She calls this experience a ‘beautiful nightmare.’ She has thoughts on grief that are so touching, she’s got a special message of hope too for anyone facing their own struggles and we will share that with you.”
Savannah went on to gush over Sheinelle’s upcoming return, adding, “We cannot wait to welcome her home right where she belongs.”
