NEED TO KNOW
Dexter: Resurrection is officially coming back for another season.
The latest show in the Dexter franchise premiered in July 2025 on Paramount+ and it took the action to New York City, with Michael C. Hall reprising his role as Dexter Morgan from the Showtime original.
In Dexter: Resurrection, the vengeful serial killer found himself interacting with a whole new cast of evil characters played by guest stars Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris and Eric Stonestreet, among others.
“Like, Al Pacino and the mafia. It just keeps pulling me back in,” Hall told Deadline in July 2025, about returning. “When we finished the series proper and Dexter put himself into self-imposed exile, I knew we may well be revisiting him at some point to find out what the hell happened to him.”
The season 1 finale, which aired Sept. 5, showed Dexter surviving his standoff with Leon Prater (Dinklage), and sailing off into the night, and now, we know fans’ questions will be answered in the show’s upcoming second season.

Hall returned to play Dexter Morgan on Dexter: Resurrection, and will be back for a second season — something that the actor has expressed his desire to do in the past.
In an April 2025 Vanity Fair interview, Phillips said, “We plan to do this for years.” Hall added to that statement, saying, “The thinking is not to come back for a sort of self-contained one-off again, but leave it open to further exploration.”
“The intention, and hope, is that the story will continue beyond this,” he explained. “He’s [Dexter] a much more human, flesh-and-blood version of that horror trope of someone who just refuses to go down.”
