Two couples who got engaged at Eras Tour concerts didn’t fumble their chance to see Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift at a Kansas City Chiefs game!
Carlos Ortega and Brenda Sánchez joined Shania and Kyle Cieplenski for the first Chiefs home game on Sunday, Sept. 14 and tell PEOPLE that being in attendance for the tight end and the music star’s first game at Arrowhead Stadium since they announced their engagement was a “full circle” moment.
“I’ve always admired her,” Sánchez says. “And it’s crazy because I think her songs followed me through my whole life. Like, I felt like she was writing songs about my life and we have that special connection. It’s been amazing, this whole journey, and it feels like a full circle.”
Her husband adds: “I think everybody who knows us knows that Taylor Swift is a big part of our relationship.”
The Ottawa, Canada newlyweds, who married in October 2024 in Cusco, Peru, were engaged while Swift sang “Love Story” at her São Paulo, Brazil tour stop on Nov. 26, 2023.
Carlos’ detail-oriented proposal — in which he enlisted those around him to help by giving them a heads up in English, Spanish and Portuguese — went viral.
Fast forward nearly two years later, and the biologist tells PEOPLE that he couldn’t believe their good fortune when StubHub contacted them to celebrate their connection with Swift at a Chiefs game.
Neither could their counterparts on the adventure on Sunday, in which the Cieplenskis joined them on the third row near the 30-yard line, right behind the Chiefs bench.

“Oh my gosh, we just, we couldn’t believe it,” Shania tells PEOPLE. “We had to second-guess a little bit. It really is like a full-circle thing to go from Eras to Arrowhead. It was just the most unexpected thing. We just had the best day today.”
The Orlando, Fla. couple were engaged during “Love Story” at Swift’s stop in Arlington, Texas on April 1, 2023.
“I had to ask him like, I mean, it was April Fools’ Day,” Shania says. “And I really did ask him like five times. I was like, are you serious? Are you serious? He was like, ‘Don’t ruin the moment.’ I felt like everything around me went quiet when it happened. it couldn’t have gone more perfect.”
Shania walked down the aisle to “Love Story” in a ceremony in May in Clearwater Beach, Fla.
On Sunday before the game, she stood for more than a half hour in a hallway near Section 118 — right below the suite where Swift sits — to catch a glimpse of the superstar.

Swift arrived at the stadium later than she normally does and the newlywed didn’t get to see her walk by.
But their connection, she says, remains strong.
“It’s like a little invisible string, right?” she says.
