David Corenswet’s Twisters costars are celebrating his leading role in Superman!
On Saturday, July 12 — as Superman drove $217 million in earnings at the box office worldwide — Corenswet’s costar in last year’s Twisters, Brandon Perea, shared a video on Instagram that was taken when Twisters’ cast learned that Corenswet had been cast as Clark Kent / Superman back in 2023.
“David, congrats! Let’s go!! That’s our Superman, baby!” Perea, 30, said in the video, which appeared to be taken on Twisters’ set. Perea, as well as other Twisters actors like Glen Powell, Sasha Lane and Katy O’Brian, could be seen in the video dressed in costume for last summer’s blockbuster disaster movie as they jumped around and cheered for the news regarding Corenswet’s major superhero casting.
“That’s our Superman, baby! Yeah!” Perea added in the video, before he jokingly said he was “going to try to fly” and seemingly dropped his phone to the ground.
“When we found out @davidcorenswet got cast as @superman while filming @twistersmovie!!” Perea wrote in a caption to his post. “And BOY, DID HE DELIVER!! GO WATCH SUPERMAN IN THEATERS NOW!! INCREDIBLE MOVIE!! AMAZING PERFORMANCES!! DAVID IS THE BEST SUPERMAN!!”
Lane, 29, who appeared in Twisters as a drone operator named Lily, wrote, “Love yall !” in a comment in reaction to Perea’s post.
Corenswet had been acting professionally for a little over a decade prior to making the jump to leading man in James Gunn’s Superman reboot. In the years before the new DC Comics-based superhero movie came along, he costarred with Mia Goth in 2022’s slasher Pearl and appeared as Scott — a storm chaser who works with Anthony Ramos’ Javi — in Twisters, the standalone sequel to the 1996 original Twister.
Daisy Edgar-Jones, Powell, 36, and Ramos, 33, costarred in Twisters as a group of storm chasers who encounter a series of deadly tornadoes in Oklahoma as Edgar-Jones’ Kate returns to storm chasing years after a deadly incident killed a number of her friends.

The cast of Twisters appeared to have some fun with Corenswet’s Superman casting while they filmed the movie in 2023. Footage from the movie’s set that circulated on social media shows Ramos saying “why is Clark Kent yelling at me?” during one take of a scene between him and Corenswet in a truck on set.
Corenswet himself last shared a video to Instagram on Friday, July 11 as Superman opened in theaters, in which he and costars Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult expressed their appreciation for all the support they and the movie received on its press tour. “We just want to say thank you to everybody who’s been coming with us on this tour and come out to support us and get excited about this movie. It’s been absolutely amazing,” he said in the clip.
