Travis Kelce couldn’t be more proud of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift!
After the 35-year-old pop superstar surprised fans at the Tight Ends & Friends concert in Nashville on June 24, taking to the stage with country singer Kane Brown to perform a crowd-rousing rendition of her hit song “Shake It Off,” Kelce was full of praise.
On the Wednesday, July 2, episode of his and brother Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Travis revealed that the seemingly impromptu moment had actually been planned.
“We’re in Nashville. She grew up in Nashville,” he explained. “She moved there when she was younger. And, yeah, we had this plan for a while that we were gonna have some fun with the tight ends, and especially Tight Ends & Friends, all the evening events.”
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end added that they specifically waited until singer Brown, 31, was on the stage.
“We knew that there was a professional like Kane Brown, who could just, he could figure it out. He’s a pro,” Travis said of the “Backseat Driver” singer. “He’s been on stage a million times. He’s not shy at all by any means. He’s a true professional.”

Travis noted that Swift approached Brown and his band to see if they’d be open to the moment.
“Tay just kinda went up to him and the band and just was like, ‘Hey, if you guys are down, like, I’ll go up there, play a song, and see if we can, you know, pop the roof off this place,’ “ he said. “Sure enough, she’s such, she’s so good with just everybody, just people and making people feel comfortable in it.”

Travis also marveled at the time and attention the “So High School” singer put into making sure everyone was ready for the performance.
“She was, like, in the back doing, like, musical notes for like [the band],” he said. “Like sheets of music. She was just kinda like writing out, like, I think the high hats maybe. I don’t know. I’m not a musician, but she was like making sure that the band and everybody knew. Everybody was just, you know yeah. Then just went out there without practicing, and it was pitch perfect and just killed it.”

And while Jason was very impressed and surprised by Swift’s appearance, he did have one pressing question.
“Was this her first time in an event sponsored by Dude Wipes?” he quipped.
“It has to be the first and only, I would assume,” Travis jokingly replied.
Swift’s surprise performance came after she and Kelce made what fans were calling their “red carpet” debut at the Tight End University’s opening night ceremony on June 23.
A video posted by the Tight End University Instagram page showed the couple beaming as they walked a red carpet into the event while hand-in-hand.
The clip was captioned, “Tight End Era ✨,” and was set to Swift’s 2017 track “…Ready for It?”
