It took Tish Cyrus years to process her divorce with Billy Ray Cyrus.
Nearly four years after Miley Cyrus’ parents—who also share kids Brandi Cyrus, 37, Trace Cyrus, 35, Braison Cyrus, 30, and Noah Cyrus, 24—filed for divorce in 2022, the Sorry We’re Cyrus host detailed the difficult chapter that followed.
“Anything that’s happened I’m kind of like, ‘Well that’s life, just keep it moving,’” Tish explained during a Jan. 14 appearance on The Squeeze podcast. “I’d been in this relationship since I was 23 or 24 so, again, I kept it moving.”
However, Tish noted that just two years before her divorce from Billy Ray—who is also dad to Christopher Cody Cyrus, 32, with ex Luckey—she lost her mom Loretta Jean Palmer Finley, to whom she’d been “very close.”
But the 58-year-old barely had time to process that loss before her marriage “started falling apart.”
“Two of the most tragic things in my life that happened—I did not process or even stop to really think about,” Tish shared. “I’ve been very open that I was a major weed smoker. For that, because I’ve always had a little bit of anxiety, that was almost like medicine for me.”
