Tina Knowles’ appearance in a new Ulta commercial was a family affair behind the scenes.
The Matriarch author and businesswoman, 71, appears in a new Ulta advertisement to promote daughter Beyoncé’s Cécred hair care line for the holiday season, showing off her vocal chops for a festive tune alongside Kylie Jenner, Paris Hilton, Khloe Kardashian and more stars.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Nov. 26, Tina opened up about how Queen Bey, 44, and her 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter helped make her voice sound its best for the commercial.
“Fun Fact ! My sweet daughter @beyonce took me into her studio and produced my vocals on ‘Five Golden Things’ because I actually had a sinus infection when I shot my part of the commercial,” she wrote.
“So she and Blue produced the harmonies to make me sound a little better,” continued Tina. “Thank you Jesus!!! Because my Blue ( my manager) said Grandma you are going to be a meme!!!”
She then joked, “Y’all would’ve talked a bunch of stuff about me if I would’ve sounded bad.”
Tina explained the trio had a blast in the studio producing her vocals. “I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as much as we, Beyonce and Blue and me laughed that night, at me trying to sing,” she said, noting that “a Virgo and two Capricorns” made for “a lot of earth energy.”
The Ulta commercial features a version of “The 12 Days of Christmas” rewritten with lyrics about products sold at the store. Tina sings lines about Cécred’s Restoring Hair & Edge Drops and Nourishing Hair Oil, before hairstylist David Lopez compliments her vocals.
“Girl, you can sing,” says Lopez.
Tina responds, “Well, you know it runs in the family!”

In a September interview with PEOPLE at The Elizabeth Taylor Night of Compassion in Los Angeles, Tina spoke about Blue Ivy’s talents.
“She can do so many things,” she said at the time. “She can paint, she writes poetry, anything she puts her mind to do, she’s good at. So I don’t know what she’s going to do.”
“I think she would be great at music, [she] would kill it,” added Tina of Blue. “But I don’t think that that’s her passion.”
