NEED TO KNOW
Timothée Chalamet can henceforth be known as a Grammy Award nominee.
For his work on last year’s Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, the actor is among this year’s Grammy nominees in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media category. The nominations were announced on Friday, Nov. 7 ahead of the 68th Grammy Award ceremony to be held on Feb. 1, 2026.
Chalamet, 29, played the legendary singer-songwriter, 84, in the James Mangold-directed movie, which chronicled Dylan breaking into the American folk scene in the 1960s. His lead performance also earned him plenty of critical praise, a Screen Actors Guild Award win, a Golden Globe nomination, and an Academy Award nomination.

Notably, the Dune star played the guitar and did his own singing throughout filming A Complete Unknown — often with live-recorded vocals. The same applied to Edward Norton, who played Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez and more.
Also nominated in the visual media soundtrack category were albums from other movies released within the last year: F1® The Album, KPop Demon Hunters, Sinners and Wicked.
Kendrick Lamar scored the most 2026 Grammy nominations, with nine; Lady Gaga and producers Cirkut and Jack Antonoff followed with seven apiece; Bad Bunny, Leon Thomas and Sabrina Carpenter each earned six; and artists including Doechii, SZA and Tyler, the Creator earned five.

A Complete Unknown isn’t the first time Chalamet has engaged with music; in addition to singing in the 2023 movie Wonka, older videos of him rapping have remained viral. In January, he performed on Saturday Night Live as both host and musical guest, channeling Dylan to sing a medley of “Outlaw Blues” and “Three Angels,” then “Tomorrow Is a Long Time.”
As both actor and producer, Chalamet leads director Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, in theaters Dec. 25. Also in the works is Dune: Part Three.
The 68th Grammy Awards will be held on Feb. 1, 2026 at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
