Thomas Rhett’s family is expanding again!
The country singer and wife Lauren Akins revealed on Instagram they’re expecting another baby. In their announcement video, the couple stood side-by-side as Rhett sang a tune to share the happy news.
“Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad. Big wrench got thrown in the plans that we thought we had. Now Lauren’s showing —got one on the way. That’s —” the soon-to-be dad paused looking at his wife, before continuing, “five under 10. Hey what can I say. Yeah life changes. You wake up ain’t nothing the same. Yeah life changes.”
In the caption for the post, Rhett, who already is a father to four daughters — Lillie Carolina, 3 Lennon Love, 5, Ada James, 8, and Willa Gray, 9 — wrote, “Here we go again! We’ve got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good.”
Rhett, who famously met his wife in elementary school, described fatherhood as “beautiful chaos.”
“It’s changed my life. It’s chaos, but it’s beautiful chaos,” he told PEOPLE of fatherhood and being a girl dad in 2024. “There are days where it’s like, ‘Good Lord, at what time are we going to bed?’ But I think as they’re getting older, it’s been the biggest blessing in my life.”
Despite the “beautiful chaos,” the country star is full of admiration for his daughters.
“My girls have taught me so much patience and how to love better,” he said. “They have softened my heart in so many ways. I love my girls more than anything in the world.”

Rhett appeared on Audacy’s Rob + Holly where he chatted about the experience of working with Katy Perry on their track “Where We Started,” sharing that the two “literally talked about our kids the entire time.”
“We literally talked about our kids the entire time… how we’re raisin’ ’em and what we’re feeding ’em,” he shared. “I think that’s what you do as a parent these days, you’re just like, ‘Oh, let me show you this one picture on my phone of my kid that you’ve never met!’ ”
Speaking to PEOPLE, the country star echoed similar comments about how the musicians bonded over their families.
“I feel like when you’re a parent and you talk to another parent it ends up being the majority of the conversation that you have because that’s just what your life is consumed in,” he said. “So to be able to talk dad-ing and mom-ing with someone like Katy was kind of hilarious, but awesome at the same time.”
