Did ‘The Simpsons’ Really Retire a Major Character After Nearly 30 Years? The Truth
Spoilers for season four of The Lincoln Lawyer ahead.
The Lincoln Lawyer’s latest season might just be the most heart–wrenching yet.
Indeed, as Mickey Haller (Manuel García-Rulfo) works to keep himself out of the defendant’s chair in the murder of former client Sam Scales (Christopher Thornton), in the season four of the Netflix legal drama, he’s blindsided by the death of his mentor and confidant David “Legal” Siegel (Elliott Gould).
It is established early on in the season that Legal has been dealing with heart issues, and as the investigation into Sam’s death—he was found in the trunk of the titular lawyer’s car in the season three finale—continues, Mickey keeps quiet about the scope of the allegations against him.
In the sixth episode, Legal goes to Mickey’s office to visit him at work, only to find he is in court for Sam’s murder trial. Instead of heading home, the retired attorney opts to get lunch with Mickey’s colleague—and ex-wife—Lorna Crane (Becky Newton).
On the bus ride home from the lunch outing, things take a drastic turn and he experiences a heart attack and dies. Lorna then goes to deliver the painful news to him while he is on a break at the court house.
