The Fantastic Four: First Steps debuts with a positive Rotten Tomatoes score. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally see the arrival of Marvel’s First Family, and it seems like the franchise has the best Fantastic Four movie yet on its hands, according to early reviews. With a comics-accurate depiction of Galactus and more, the MCU movie promises plenty of excitement.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has landed with an 88% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the MCU movie achieving the Certified Fresh status. That is higher than James Gunn’s Superman, the other major superhero movie of the summer, which debuted at 86% and is currently at 83% with critics at the time of writing.
As was the case for the DC Universe’s first movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ critics’ score could drop over the next few days as more reviews are added to the platform. As it stands, the MCU’s Fantastic Four reboot ranks higher than Captain America: Brave New World, which holds a 45% score, and ties with Thunderbolts*, which is also at 88%.
What The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Rotten Tomatoes Score Means For The Movie
The MCU Movies Are Set To End 2025 On A Strong Note
Even if The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Rotten Tomatoes score fluctuates and ends up being lower than its debut, the MCU movie will still most likely end up as the best film for the team. That is due to how the MCU film’s critics’ score far exceeds that of all past live-action Fantastic Four movies that have been released so far.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is the MCU getting back to basics – a solid superhero movie, grounded in heart, but with little flashiness.
2005’s Fantastic Four sits at just 27%, while the best performer for the franchise, 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, sports a 37% score. As one of the most controversial superhero movies ever, the ill-received 2015 reboot of the Fantastic Four is the lowest entry in the franchise with an abysmal 9% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Our Take On The Fantastic Four: First Steps Rotten Tomatoes Score
Marvel’s First Family Is Finally Getting The Movie It Deserves
As a longtime fan of the Marvel team, I could not be happier that The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Rotten Tomatoes score is as positive as revealed. While the 2000s Fantastic Four films were fun, they were not the definitive live-action take on the superhero squad. As for the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, the less said about it, the better.
With The Fantastic Four: First Steps performing well with critics, its box office chances look bright. Good word-of-mouth is needed to help the Fantastic Four movie be a hit. With positive reviews and the fact that the project focuses on bigger characters than Marvel’s other 2025 movies, I’m convinced The Fantastic Four: First Steps could be the success Marvel hopes for.
