Taylor Swift has a “dazzling soirée” planned for her fans.
AfterThe Hollywood Reporter reported that a secret event tied to the pop megastar’s 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl was coming to theaters, the pop megastar announced on Friday, Sept. 19 “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.”
“I hereby invite you to a *dazzling* soirée, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: Oct 3 – Oct 5 only in cinemas!” she began an Instagram post, which features Swift, 35, gazing over her shoulder in a vibrant red showgirl costume with a bejeweled feather headpiece.
She added: “You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl ❤️🔥”
“Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan… Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged 💃,” Swift quipped.
According to the “Fortnight” musician, showtimes vary and tickets are limited and available at releasepartyofashowgirl.com.
Per a press release from AMC Theatres,”The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” will be playing from Oct. 3 to Oct. 5 throughout all 540 AMC Theatres locations. Additionally, it will be available at non-AMC locations in North America, including Cinemark and Regal theaters.
Screenings will kick off across time zones at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT on Oct. 3.
According to the release, the theatrical event has a run-time of 89 minutes and will include not only the music video premiere but behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot, lyric videos for the additional tracks on the album, and “never-before-seen personal reflections” from Swift about those new songs.
During its three-day run, tickets will be priced at $12 — seemingly a nod to her 12th studio album — before any added online booking fees.
AMC’s tickets went on sale at 12:12 p.m. ET on Sept. 19.
According to the release, these screenings will differ from a traditional theater experience.
“While normally prohibited during traditional showtimes, AMC guests are welcome to sing and dance during ‘Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl’,” it read.
However, it added, “to help ensure everyone’s enjoyment of the show, guests may not stand on seats or block any aisles or stairs.”
At AMC, there will also be no trailers or ads, so it’s not recommended to arrive even a minute past showtime. However, this may vary at local theaters.
Other territories that will get a “release party” during the same timeframe include Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Tickets are set to go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Additional countries will be able to attend the theatrical event on a later weekend in October that will be announced on or around Oct. 3.
Multiple sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, Sept. 18 that a secret event tied to The Life of a Showgirl was coming to theaters.
At the time, the subject matter of the project had not yet been revealed, but multiple sources told the outlet that it would be hitting theaters the same weekend as Swift’s forthcoming album release.
The 14-time Grammy winner’s 2023 Eras Tour concert film, which was
originally filmed throughout the course of Swift’s run of shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in August 2023, broke multiple records following its release.
It sold the most-ever tickets in the first day of ticket sales at AMC Theatres and earned the highest-grossing opening of a concert film in history. It also became one of the highest-earning concert films of all time.
The Life of a Showgirl is out Oct. 3.
