NEED TO KNOW
Taylor Lautner and his wife, Tay, are watching The Summer I Turned Pretty — and they have both chosen to root for different brothers in the latest TV love triangle.
During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the Twilight alum says the couple — who wed in 2022 — are TV buddies as they are adventuring in the mountains, and she can’t watch the fan-favorite Prime Video series with her friends.
“My wife watches that show religiously,” Lautner, 33, shares. “I would be lying if I said I didn’t … I’ve been watching this current season with her, so it’s been a fun thing. I don’t think she’s super excited about watching the show with me like she is with her friends, but I get it. I get it.”

Lautner admits that he sees the parallels between the main characters of the show — Belly (played by Lola Tung), Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christoper Briney) — to the unforgettable Twilight love triangle, which saw Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan stuck between Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob Black (Lautner). (As fans may remember, Bella ultimately chose Edward — and Jacob later imprinted on the pair’s daughter, Renesmee.)
Lautner, however, shares where he and his wife fall on the Conrad versus Jeremiah scale.

“I feel like because of my roots, I have to be Team Jer,” he confesses. “But that’s just because I feel like I have to. I feel like [Jeremiah] resonates a lot with Jacob. I know that’ll irritate a lot, a lot of fans.”
Many viewers would point to Jeremiah’s season 3 missteps (yes, the cheating and the sudden proposal) as proof he’s less dependable, while the often moody Conrad’s growth and enduring love for Belly keep him the people’s choice.
So, while Lautner playfully sides with Jeremiah, most The Summer I Turned Pretty fans largely remain firmly Team Conrad, including his wife Tay.
“I think my wife may be on the other team, and that makes sense because she was Team Edward as well,” says Lautner.
Along with chatting about the fun debates between him and his wife, the actor spoke about his partnership with Blue Buffalo Wilderness and what it’s been like traveling and adventuring with his dogs, Remi and Lily.
“We really wanted to put an emphasis on spending this summer outdoors and in nature a lot,” he explains. “They got their Blue Buffalo in them, helping fuel them along the way. It’s been a great summer so far, and we’re going to keep it going.”
New episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 drop Wednesdays at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Prime Video.
