With clear eyes and a full heart, Friday Night Lights alum Taylor Kitsch is offering some pro tips for the upcoming reboot’s cast.
The actor, 44, reveals his honest advice during a PEOPLE in 10 interview about his new Prime Video series, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
“Have fun, don’t worry about if it’s going to be big or not, just take absolute ownership of whatever character you’re given,” Kitsch, who won’t be reprising his role as Tim Riggins in Peacock’s reboot, says.
He adds, “Take risks, and enjoy it because it’s not gonna last forever.”

And when asked whether Texas is forever, Kitsch proclaims, “Yes, Texas forever.”
The original Friday Night Lights series — inspired by the 2004 film of the same name — ran from 2006 to 2011. It starred Kitsch, Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Jesse Plemons, Zach Gilford, Scott Porter and more.
Although the FNL reboot will continue to tell stories about a small-town Texas community’s love of football and the drama unfolding outside of the football field, Peacock’s series will feature a completely new cast.

Kitsch told PEOPLE in January that he was only interested in returning if it was a small role. “If you wanted to put me as a visiting coach with two lines, I probably would do that, just for fun. I think that would be the most I would do, because I love the way we left it,” he said at the time.
However, in an Aug. 4 story in The Wrap, he provided an update, saying, “I was asked to do it. Umm, yeah, I’m not going back. No.”
Peacock announced in December 2024 that the series will take place “in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane, when a ragtag high school football team and their damaged interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship. Through their unexpected rise, the football team becomes a beacon of light for their town.”
The still-in-development reboot doesn’t have an expected release date.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf — which follows Kitsch’s character Ben Edwards’ “journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations” — premieres on Prime Video on Aug. 27.
