NEED TO KNOW
More details have emerged about Tara Reid’s recent hospitalization.
Police in Rosemont, Ill., released audio of a 911 call made shortly after midnight on Nov. 23, in which a caller reported that the 50-year-old actress could “barely stand” and needed “help from the hospital” as she lay on the floor of a hotel hallway.
In the recording obtained by PEOPLE, the caller — who seems to be a staff member at the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport — Rosemont, where Reid was staying at the time — tells the 911 dispatcher, “She can barely stand. She can barely sit in a wheelchair. She’s not responding. Sometimes she’s giving unresponsive answers.”
Reid is heard slurring her words multiple times in the background of the call.
The caller — who was with Reid at the time they contacted 911 — tells the emergency dispatcher that they want an ambulance sent to the hotel when asked by the dispatcher.
“We need to find out what’s going on,” the caller says. “She might’ve taken something. We don’t know.”
The caller continues, “She goes unresponsive and she wakes up and she says she’s fine, but she’s not. She’s hanging on. She can barely walk.”
They say, “She’s falling,” before trying to get the actress’s attention. “Ms. Reid, Ms. Reid,” the caller says in the recording. The actress repeats those words back, straining to speak.

“She’s a celebrity, just so you know,” the caller then says, before adding that Reid was not “responding normally.”
“She’s laying on the floor in the hallway, and we don’t want her to hit her head if she gets up,” the person tells 911 dispatch. “We just wanna make sure she’s all right.”
They say that Reid “is breathing normally,” but note, “She can’t walk, though. She can’t walk.”
The concerned caller tells the dispatcher, “It’s just that we don’t want to leave her in the room and then she gets up and she falls and does something to herself. It’s really bad.”
A rep for Reid did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
TMZ was first to publish news of the 911 audio.
The American Pie actress was seen being taken out of her Chicago area hotel on a stretcher and into an ambulance on Nov. 23, per video obtained by TMZ. The footage showed Reid speaking incoherently and being placed in a wheelchair, seemingly unable to stand on her own.
Two days later, she filed a report with the Rosemont Police Department, claiming she was drugged and “completely blacked out” after having a drink with a stranger while staying at the DoubleTree Chicago O’Hare Airport — Rosemont.
“The next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital around 8 hours or more later not knowing where I was or anything that happened,” her police statement read. “I am willing to prosecute.”

The Rosemont Public Safety Department said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time that they understand “the severity of the allegations being reported and are committed to investigating this incident fully. At this point, we are in communication with the hotel to gather as much video surveillance as possible.”
On Wednesday, Dec. 3, the Rosemont Public Safety Department told PEOPLE that the hotel’s surveillance footage did not indicate evidence that Reid was drugged. “While video surveillance showed Tara Reid at the hotel bar, at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink,” police said in a statement, indicating they were working with the Sharknado actress to receive hospital records that may shed more light on the incident.
“At this time there is no criminal act that has been committed and there is no one we are currently investigating,” that statement continued. “While we do not have any evidence that a drink was tampered with, it is a good reminder to never leave a drink unattended. If you ever believe you have been drugged or feel unsafe, please reach out to local authorities.”

“Bottom line is no one ends up in the hospital incapacitated for over 8 hours after a drink,” Reid began in a statement provided to PEOPLE by her representative on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
The American Pie star made a rare red carpet appearance in March at the premiere of the Indonesian horror film Pabrik Gula in Los Angeles. Among her upcoming projects is the film The Dreamer Cinderella. Reid last appeared onscreen in the 2023 vampire movie Bloodthirst.
