NEED TO KNOW
If you saw yourself in Margo Banks and her posse of gun-totting southern dolls, you may be in luck!
On the heels of Netflix’s breakaway success with its new series The Hunting Wives — which follows the twisty lives and loves of several Texas women, led by Malin Akerman’s Margo and Brittany Snow’s Sophie — a studio has announced that it is looking to cast a group of southern friends for a new docuseries.
According to the call, posted to Instagram on Aug. 13 by Ain’t That Something Entertainment and Spoke Studios, the casting team is seeking “a close-knit circle of southern friends navigating faith, friendship, and life’s untold chapters.”
Those interested in tossing their name in the ring can email Ain’t That Something Entertainment’s casting line with the story of their friend group.
The Hunting Wives, based on a novel by May Cobb of the same name, has taken the TV world by storm this summer, snagging the top spot on Netflix’s top 10 for several days after its release in July.

The series follows Sophie, a New England mom who moves to Texas with her husband, where she steps outside of her comfort zone by joining a friend group of conservative, southern women. Just as Sophie is getting used to the world of boar hunting, boozy line dancing and complicated love triangles, the show takes a dark turn when the murder of a young girl rocks the local community — and the subsequent investigation yields plenty of pointed fingers and tested allegiances.
Akerman and Snow’s characters have a tight, though complicated, relationship on screen, and Snow told PEOPLE in July that their bond was just as strong in real life, as they became “really good friends” throughout the production.
“We would get these huge turkey sandwiches that were the size of our faces, and we would each have a turkey sandwich and a margarita and just laugh and debrief about the day,” said the Pitch Perfect star, 39. “A couple of times we even took our lines to try to memorize them while we were eating, which didn’t always work out.”
Added Snow: “It was so helpful to be able to feel comfortable and safe with someone on and off set, and that really added to our chemistry and to our dynamic.”

The Hunting Wives also stars This Is Us alum Chrissy Metz, who plays the supporting role of Starr, a social outcast excluded by some of the other moms in the town.
Speaking to PEOPLE for a cover story this summer, Metz said that shooting with Akerman and Snow was a blast.
“Everyone was so great,” said the actress, 44. “I told them, ‘You’re going to have a hard time being mean to me!’ And they were like, ‘We really are.’ ”
Metz added that she had no idea the show would take off in the way that it did, but that she fell in love with the novel after reading it.
“I was like, oh, people love these kinds of wild and crazy salacious stories. And I love that the characters aren’t just one-note like you think they might be,” said Metz. “They’re very layered.”
“It’s become one of those things where everyone’s like, ‘Are you watching? I’m watching!’ ” she said of the show. “Everyone’s talking about it. It’s so cool when you do something that reaches all sorts of people, on all sides.”
