Steve Martin is reflecting on costar Selena Gomez’s wedding.
Since being photographed before the ceremony alongside fellow Only Murders in the Building actors Martin Short and Paul Rudd in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Sept. 27, Martin, 80, has stayed mum about wedding details.
Now, nearly two months after Gomez, 33, tied the knot, Martin spoke out about the star-studded nuptials during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 59th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
For Martin, the “highlight” of being at Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco, 37, was “just being there.”

“It was a beautiful, beautiful wedding,” he gushed. “She married a very lucky guy, but also a very talented and funny guy.”
Gomez and Martin have starred on their hit Hulu series for five seasons since its premiere in 2021, with their respective characters, Mabel Mora and Charles-Haden Savage, working together to investigate the murders in their apartment building. The pair will continue working together in season 6 of Only Murders in the Building, which is headed overseas to London.

Martin and Short, 75, publicly shared their blessing for Gomez’s relationship with Blanco in the months leading up to the couple’s big day.
“I just adore her. I’m so happy that she’s getting married to this fabulous guy, Benny Blanco, who’s just one of the great, cool guys and funny and loose, and she adores him,” Short told Amy Poehler on a September episode of the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast. “I’m just thrilled for her happiness.”
During Gomez, Short and Martin’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Sept. 9, the “Good For You” singer joked that “Marty’s the ring bearer.”
Before that, Gomez teased other potential ceremony roles for her costars, revealing on The Drew Barrymore Show on March 27, “Marty is due to give a speech,” adding, “I told him he must.”

“Steve will probably pull out his banjo,” she continued, referring to the Father of the Bride star’s musical talents. “But I feel like Marty would have an epic speech.”
When Gomez announced her engagement to Blanco on Dec. 11, 2024, Short and Martin couldn’t have been more excited.
“Congratulations to Benny and Selena, from her two weird uncles,” Martin captioned an Instagram post of himself, Short and Gomez on Dec. 12, 2024.

The following month, a clip went viral showing Short doting over Gomez’s marquise diamond engagement ring at the 2025 Golden Globes.
The Wizards of Waverly Place alum shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Jan. 6 that Short “cared” a lot about her engagement news, but jokingly added that she “had the feeling” that he “wasn’t very happy about” Blanco not asking for his permission to propose.
As for what Martin thought of the engagement, the Emilia Pérez star revealed that he sent a sweet message to her: “Steve made sure he sent my assistant an email so my assistant could tell me congratulations.”

“That’s how he communicates,” the actress and singer joked of her costar. “He always tries to be polite. And it’s very kind, but it’s okay to send a little text.”
Gomez previously opened up about the special relationship she shares with her Only Murders costars on Instagram in April 2024. In a sweet caption, she called Short and Martin “the most kind, gentle, warm and powerful influences in my life.”
“You have shown me a level of class, intellect and humor that doesn’t seem to be easy to find anymore,” she wrote. “You guys are truly best friends to me forever.”
