The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is officially 20 years old, but its stars were noticeably quiet about the milestone as the movie celebrated its anniversary on Sunday, June 1.
None of the main four stars — Blake Lively, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn — commemorated the event on social media, despite being open about their bond, both on and offscreen, over the years.
Adapted from Ann Brashares’ young-adult novel of the same name, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants follows four lifelong friends who remain connected by a shared pair of jeans as they go their separate ways for the first time one summer.
Lively, 37, Ferrera, 41, Bledel, 43, and Tamblyn, 42, have reminded fans over the years that they’re as close as their onscreen characters Bridget, Carmen, Lena and Tibby, respectively.

The four actresses, who also led The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 in 2008, have remained a tight-knit group since the success of the films.
In January 2024, Ferrera told PEOPLE, “We have a Sisterhood [group] text that’s been going for 20 years … we’ve all had kids. We’ve all gotten married. We were at each other’s weddings. We’ve been through a lot of life together.”
The month prior, Lively, Tamblyn and Bledel all rallied around Ferrera during a screening of her summer-blockbuster movie Barbie.
“We got ready together, picked out outfits and jewelry and handbags together (aka raided Blake’s closet), ate dinners together, and drove together to celebrate our favorite sister, @americaferrera and her brilliant performance in Barbie,” Tamblyn captioned an Instagram post at the time.
In 2020, Lively told PEOPLE that her “incredible” costars were “three women who I met when I was 16 years old and I’ve been lucky to call them my friends and mentors ever since.”

More recently, Ferrera, Tamblyn and Bledel shared a joint statement voicing support for the Gossip Girl alum after she filed a sexual-harassment complaint against Justin Baldoni, and alleged that he engaged in misconduct during the production of their movie It Ends with Us.
“As Blake’s friends and sisters for over twenty years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation,” the statement read. “Throughout the filming of It Ends with Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set, and we are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice.”
Baldoni countered Lively’s initial claim in January with a $400 million lawsuit against her, her husband Ryan Reynolds and their publicist Leslie Sloane, alleging extortion, defamation and more.
