Fede Dorcaz, a singer and model, has died. He was 29.
The Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) announced on X on Friday, Oct. 10, that a man died from wounds he sustained after being shot on the side of the Periférico Ring Road. The SSC later identified him as Dorcaz in a statement to TV Azteca, CNN Español and El Universal.
The SSC said in a translated post on X that authorities are analyzing video surveillance footage of the incident to “identify perpetrators.” It was believed that two people riding on motorcycles were the ones behind the attack, per the SSC.
According to the SSC, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has been notified for “corresponding forensic services and joint investigations.”

The SSC did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Mexico City television network Hoy also confirmed Dorcaz’s death in an Instagram post, writing alongside a photo of the star, “The HOY family mourns the sensitive passing of our friend and colleague, Fede Dorcaz.”
“We join the pain that bears his entire family, his parents and his girlfriend Mariana Avila,” the network continued in the translated post, adding that Forcaz and his girlfriend were expected to take part in their latest season of Las Strellas Bailan, a celebrity dancing show.
“Fede leaves a big void in our team. His memory and passion will continue to inspire us forever. Rest in Peace Fede Dorcaz,” Hoy concluded.
According to TMZ, Dorcaz left dance rehearsals to drive home when the shooting occurred. The outlet reported it was an attempted robbery, and Dorcaz was shot in the neck and died at the scene.

Hoy continued to later pay tribute to Dorcaz by sharing a video on X that offered a look at some of the rehearsals he had been undergoing over the last few weeks.
“Thank you, Fede, for infecting us with your joy and your love for life. Forever in our hearts,” the network wrote.

Dorcaz’s partner, Avila, also paid tribute to the star on social media after his death.
In a translated post on X, she said, “You will always be my favorite person in the whole world, I love you, I love you, I love you and I will always love you.”
