Sia’s estranged husband Daniel Bernad is requesting hundreds of thousands of dollars in spousal support.
In March, the “Chandelier” artist, 49, filed for divorce from Bernad, 47, with whom she shares 18-month old son Somersault, after they tied the knot in 2022. He filed a petition in Los Angeles on Oct. 9 asking for $250,856 per month in spousal support from Sia, plus $300,000 for legal fees and $200,000 for forensic accounting fees, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Bernad, a former radiation oncologist, claims he has no income after he stopped working as a physician in 2021 to open a joint ketamine treatment clinic with Sia. He also claims she was aware his medical license would ultimately expire as a result of the career shift.

They formed a company, Modern Medicine, in 2022, but Sia ceased funding the venture in March 2025, according to the documents, and Bernad hasn’t since received a salary despite an alleged agreement for him to continue in the business through July.
Per Bernad’s filing, they lived a “luxurious and upper-class lifestyle” complete with over $400,000 in monthly expenses for private jets, vacations, high-end dining and several full-time staff members. “We never needed to monitor our living expenses,” he writes.
“I request that the court order Sia to pay me temporary spousal support in the sum of $250,856 per month,” says Bernad in the court documents. “Orders are necessary at this time because I am financially dependent on Sia, the breadwinner in our marriage. I have no income and Sia has ceased all funding for Modern Medicine. Sia has the ability to pay me spousal support to maintain our financial status quo.”
According to Bernad, he “will need to complete several years of training and pass several rigorous exams before I can renew my certification and practice radiation oncology again.”
Bernad claims his request for legal fees and forensic accounting fees will “level the playing field” between him and Sia.

Around the time of Sia’s divorce filing in March, according to Bernad, she paid for him to live in a hotel through July 2025. He then moved into his current home, for which he’s paid over $100,000 to lease for a year — and asked Sia to reimburse, which she refused, per the documents.
A rep for Sia did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The former couple tied the knot in a small ceremony in Portofino, Italy, and welcomed Somersault in March 2024.
Prior to her relationship with Bernad, the Australian singer-songwriter was married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang from 2014 to 2016. Three years later, she adopted two teen boys.
