NEED TO KNOW
Seth Rogen went off book on Nobody Wants This season 2.
The comedian, 43, made an appearance in season 2 as a progressive rabbi who offered Noah (Adam Brody) a position at his ultra-modern congregation, and Rogen brought quite a lot of energy, Brody says.
“He just let it rip,” Brody, 45, tells PEOPLE. “He and Kate Berlant, who I’m also a huge fan of, just went way off-script, and I just got to buckle up and hang on, and yeah, that was a dynamic.”
Berlant starred alongside Rogen as Cami, the counterpart to Rogen’s Rabbi Neil at Ahava.
The two comedians matched each other’s energy, which worked out for The O.C. alum, who notes, “Fortunately, that was the dynamic on the page too, in those scenes, Noah’s more of a bystander.”

Brody raves that Rogen is “so very funny and talented,” as he elaborates on what made The Studio star the perfect person to play the opposing Rabbi figure.
“He’s incredibly gregarious, and he’s identifiably Jewish, which is important,” Brody says. “Listen, he’d be great to have in any way, shape or form.”
In Brody’s words, Neil is a “rock and roll rabbi to Noah’s more buttoned-up one,” and he adds of Rogen, “I think he’s just a great fit.”
Rogen and Berlant were not the only new faces that appeared in season 2 of the Netflix hit. Brody was also joined onscreen by his wife, Leighton Meester, who played an influencer and former friend of Joanne (Kristen Bell) who hired Noah for her baby-naming ceremony.
He told PEOPLE that the best part of working with Meester, 39, was the “date night” of sorts they got by “driving to work together and getting a little alone time.”

Meester, meanwhile, told PEOPLE she had been a “huge fan of the show for many reasons,” as she raved about her experience on set.
“I was really taken by everybody’s kindness and their talent, and how that whole show came together,” she said. “I know that everyone has so much fun on it, and when I went on, I mean, it was one of the most fun times that I’ve had on a set.”
