Seth Meyers has accepted his place on President Donald Trump’s “s— list.”
During his monologue on the Monday, Nov. 17 episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the late-night host reacted to a Truth Social post shared by Trump, 79, on Saturday, Nov. 15. In the post, Trump said that Meyers is “suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)” and that “he was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage.”
The post went on to claim Late Night is a “ratings disaster” and that Meyers has “no talent, and NBC should fire him.”
In his monologue, Meyers, 51, got playfully petty and pointed out the “passive voice” used in the post as he revealed another layer to the critique: the episode of Late Night that Trump watched on Friday, Nov. 14, and posted about was a rerun of the episode that the President previously posted about earlier this month, when he called Meyers a “truly deranged lunatic” and suggested that the host’s criticisms were “probably illegal.”

The comments that Trump took issue with specifically were Meyers’ mentions of “electric catapults on aircraft carriers,” and in his monologue on Monday, Meyers pointed out, “So catapults set him off last time. What was it this time? Well, he posted on Saturday, and referred to last night, which means it was probably something I said on Friday, but our Friday show was a repeat. Which repeat? The catapult show. So it was the catapults again.”
“And with respect, Mr. President, you can’t get mad a second time for the same thing when it’s in a repeat,” Meyers said.
Meyers also joked that he was in good company amongst the other people Trump had posted about over the weekend.
“I’m also aware that being attacked this weekend by the president doesn’t make me special in any way, shape or form,” he said. “I was simply on the same s— list as Christopher Wray, James Comey, Indiana Republicans, Thomas Massie, Rand Paul, Marjorie Taylor Greene and former President Joe Biden.”
“I wanna clarify that I take no issue with the president voicing his displeasure with my show. That is his right and, on a lot of nights, he’s got a point.”

Trump’s Saturday post was also shared by FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who posted a screenshot of Trump’s statement on X, without adding additional comment. Carr getting involved is notable given he was open about his intention to potentially suspend other late-night shows after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended in September and pulled off the air for six days.
“We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead,” Carr, 46, said on Benny Johnson’s podcast amidst Kimmel’s suspension.

After Trump’s post earlier this month calling him out, Meyers said in a monologue that he was “starting to sound like a deranged lunatic” due to the president’s commentary.
“That’s what you do to us,” Meyers said of Trump. “You make us talk about what you’re talking about, and then we all sound crazy.”
