Selena Gomez is making a list of must-watch movies for her future children!
While appearing on the Tuesday, Sept. 9 episode of the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, Gomez, 33, — who announced her engagement to producer Benny Blanco in December — discussed two movies that she’s excited to watch with her kids one day.
The conversation came about after the “Calm Down” singer expressed the differences between herself and her sister, Gracie Elliott Teefey, who is 12. She described Gracie’s age as when you start to become “self-conscious.”
As Poehler, 53, starred in Disney’s Inside Out movie franchise about navigating the emotions of pre-teens, Gomez revealed she had been planning to bring up her role as Joy in the films.
“I really wanted to ask you about that movie because I watched it with my sister, and I completely sobbed,” Gomez said. “It is so factual.

“I almost feel like it should have been a requirement in school to watch that as a homework assignment,” she continued. “I’m so fascinated with the human mind, and it would break my heart.”
Inside Out focuses on Riley, an 11-year-old Midwestern girl, being guided by her emotions — Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness — as her family relocates to San Francisco.
Gomez revealed that the 2015 movie also brought her sister to tears.
Poehler brought up that the 2024 sequel, Inside Out 2, includes the emotion of anxiety and said it’s a feeling experienced by people of all ages.

“You’re either feeling it in real time as a young person, or you’re remembering that feeling as a person in your thirties and forties, or fifties or above,” Poehler noted.
“I mean, it’s part of growing up. Yeah. But it’s brutal,” she continued.

Gomez described the movie franchise as “incredible” before adding, “I’m gonna make my children watch it.”

The Only Murders in the Building actress — who met her fiancé, Blanco, 37, while they were collaborating on “I Can’t Get Enough” in 2019 — previously shared her excitement to become a mom on the Jay Shetty Podcast.
“I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children,” Gomez said on the March 24 episode.
“I love making [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it,” she added.
