NEED TO KNOW
Selena Gomez is opening up about what it’s like to live with a foodie!
On Tuesday, Sept. 9, Gomez made an appearance on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast and detailed fiancé Benny Blanco’s food obsession.
“I don’t know if he’d admit this — but he likes when I sit in the kitchen with him because he tells me what he’s doing,” Gomez, 33, told Poehler, 53. “And I think it’s the cutest thing in the world because I’ll sit there and go, ‘Now what?'”
She added, “He completely loses himself in cooking and I love that. I just think it’s so endearing.”
Though she has her own cooking show, Selena + Chef, the Only Murders in the Building actress said she’s no expert.
“I enjoy cooking, I really do. I just find it very intimidating to do with Benny because he’s just really good at it,” she said. “It’s almost just too threatening.”
“So one time I made dinner with my friends and he got so offended — he was like, ‘Why haven’t you done that for me?’ I’m like, ‘Because mine was frozen and I just added a sauce!'” she quipped.
The one recipe she does know well? Her “Nana’s chicken and dumplings.”

Gomez announced her engagement to the music producer via an Instagram carousel in December 2024. The two began dating in June 2023.
In March 2024, Blanco revealed the dish he makes most for Gomez during an appearance on TalkShopLive.
“She’s a huge steak fan. So anything that has steak in it. Or, yesterday I just brought her, it’s not in my book, but I brought her, she loves soup,” said Blanco, who published Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends in April 2024.
He continued, “She was shooting a show yesterday so I made a little soup and I brought it over to her.”
At the time, he also said that they cook together “every day.”
“We always cook together, she’s such a good cook. Like it’s not just for her show, she’s an incredible cook,” he added. “We have so much fun cooking together. All we do is eat,” he added.

Meanwhile, in May of this year, Blanco said he would want Gomez’s corn casserole to be at his “last supper” on Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware.
“We’re big on casserole,” Gomez said, explaining that it’s like a sweet cornbread.
“It’s delicious,” Blanco said, adding that his mom used to make her own iteration of Gomez’s dish for him, too. “It doesn’t have the same density [as corn bread], it’s much looser.”
