NEED TO KNOW
Taylor Swift is reportedly headed back to theaters.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, multiple sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that a secret event tied to the pop megastar’s 10th studio album The Life of a Showgirl is headed to theaters.
While the subject matter of the theatrical event has not been revealed, multiple sources told the publication that it will hit theaters the weekend of the LP’s release.
It remains unclear who is directing the project, however, Swift, 35, herself directed the 2020 documentary Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions. The Eras Tour concert film, which was
originally filmed throughout the course of Swift’s run of shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in August 2023, was directed by Sam Wrench.

The 2023 release of the Eras Tour film shattered several records
It sold the most-ever tickets in the first day of ticket sales at AMC Theatres, experienced the highest-grossing opening of a concert film in history and became one of the highest-earning concert films of all time — coming in second only to Michael Jackson’s 2009 documentary This Is It.
It also had a wildly successful streaming debut on Disney+ and shattered several records, becoming the most-watched music film on the platform of all time.
The film documenting Swift’s career-spanning concert broke records by earning 4.6 million views in just the three days after it dropped, per a report by Deadline,
Within the past weekend alone, fans of the Grammy winner, 34, watched 16.2 million hours of the film, which has a runtime of three-and-a-half hours, or the entire length of her Eras Tour set. (According to Deadline, Disney+ counts a view as the total stream time divided by a title’s runtime.)
After the Eras Tour film’s initial release — which surpassed the $200 million mark at the global box office just three weeks after its debut — the “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” performer reflected on the film’s success on Instagram.
“What a truly mind blowing thing you’ve turned The Eras Tour Concert Film into,” Swift wrote at the time.
The 14-time Grammy winner continued: “I’ve been watching videos of you guys in the theaters dancing and prancing and recreating choreography, creating inside jokes, casting spells, getting engaged, and just generally creating the exact type of joyful chaos we’re known for 😇.”
Swift announced the title of her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl in August.
After teaming up with New Heights, the podcast hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce to announce the record, she revealed its track list the following day.
The 12 tracks include “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Ruin the Friendship,” “Honey,” “Actually Romantic,” “CANCELLED!”, “Eldest Daughter”, “Father Figure”, “Opalite,” “The Fate of Ophelia” and the title track featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
The Life of a Showgirl is out Oct. 3.
