NEED TO KNOW
Chase Chrisley’s drinking struggles continue to be a topic of conversation on The Chrisleys: Back to Reality.
In one of the Lifetime show’s episodes, airing on Tuesday, Sept. 2, Savannah Chrisley got into an argument with Julie’s dad, Harvey Hughes, about a family Easter gathering. But the conversation eventually shifted to Chase.
Savannah and Harvey spoke about the severity of Chase’s alcohol usage. They also addressed Harvey’s unspoken favoritism for Todd and Julie Chrisley’s eldest son. (Todd also had children, Lindsie Chrisley and Kyle Chrisley, from a previous marriage.)
“Chase has been drinking in y’all’s house — in a house that y’all pay for,” the Good Girl Rx founder, 28, said. “This is my house. So him doing that is way more disrespectful.”

From there, Savannah brought up a past conversation she had with Harvey about Chase that she “will never forget.”
“Does Chase drink? Yes. Does Chase do drugs? Maybe,” she recalled Harvey saying. “But does that make him an addict? I don’t know.”
To that, Harvey countered that “most folks don’t realize” the number of times he’s “cried myself to sleep worried” about 29-year-old Chase. Savannah then argued that Harvey wants to feel “needed,” suggesting his co-dependent dynamic with Chase is a result of him looking “at Chase as replacing Uncle Trey,” Julie’s late brother who died in 2002.
“Oh, there’s no doubt about it,” said Harvey, who told the cameras separately he was very “tight” with Trey before his death and admitted to not being “fair” to Savannah while allowing Chase to fill the “void” of his late son’s absence.

“At the end of the day, I want to help him,” Savannah responded, adding, “because I’m not going to bury him with my momma and daddy in prison.”
“Well, and I don’t want to either,” Harvey replied.
Afterward, Harvey said he didn’t “want to die” knowing that his “rift” with Savannah went unresolved.
As he asked what he could do to fix their issues, Savannah said it’s about “showing up even when you’re not asked to.”
The Unlocked podcast host also noted how she’s “been on my own” over the last two and a half years, stepping up to raise her younger siblings and fight for her parents’ return home amid their imprisonment. (Todd, 57, and Julie, 52, were released from prison on May 28, thanks to a pardon from President Donald Trump.)
“I don’t want you to die with me having the anger and resentment that I have towards you,” she said to Harvey, who said, “And I don’t want to die having the resentment I have towards you.”
“I’m sorry, will you forgive me?” asked Harvey.
Savannah said, “Yes.”
They both mutually said, “I love you,” before closing out the conversation.
Many of the episodes released so far have addressed Chase’s sobriety struggles, as well as Harvey’s favoritism of him over his other grandchildren.
In a teaser for what’s to come, Chase’s potential engagement to his girlfriend, Jodi Laine Fournerat, was not met with positive feedback from his family.
“That’s the dumbest decision he’s ever made,” Grayson Chrisley said, as Savannah responded, “That shows you how stupid he is.”
The possibility comes at a time when Savannah believes “Chase is not Chase,” noting that he’s “literally like a blank shell.”
“There is a part of me that is so afraid that he’s gonna die,” Savannah then began to say through tears, adding, “that I literally, like, I don’t want to even try to have a relationship with him.”
