NEED TO KNOW
Kody Brown is getting a request to add a third person to his marriage with Robyn, but she’s not so thrilled about the woman’s approach.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek of the Sunday, Nov. 2 episode of Sister Wives, Kody tells Robyn about a certain email he received from a perspective plural-marriage participant — even though he and Robyn, 46, haven’t been in one for some time after the dissolution of Kody’s plural marriages to Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown.
The Brown family patriarch, 55, presents the news to Robyn as “another one of those emails from some woman” in the new episode. “[She was] talking about plural marriage,” Kody reveals. “She’s kind of chastising me for deciding to quit plural marriage. She’s calling me out then asking, sort of, to get to know us for the purpose of joining the family.”

After Kody chuckles to himself, Robyn responds with a “wow” and explains how she really really feels about the whole thing while talking to the cameras.
“I find it very inappropriate that they would send it to Kody,” she says. “It’s not usually proper to go hitting on a guy. You have to go through the sister wives, you have to go through, like, at least one.”
Elsewhere in the clip, Kody admits that he’s had “a lot of letters come in” from perspective lovers asking him to “reconsider” plural marriage.
“Who doesn’t like a little bit of attention? But at the same time, that’s a craziness that I don’t want to indulge.”
Kody also reveals to Robyn that he “didn’t send her a letter back,” before Robyn asks him if he brought up the correspondence because he was “interested” in adding another woman to the mix.
“It was one of those things, I deleted the letter because I thought I’d just keep it to myself,” Kody says. “It’s one of those things, it’s like you’re my sweetheart, I’m gonna tell you everything going on. I wish I would’ve kept it to show you.”
“Thanks for telling me,” Robyn responds. “It would’ve been weird probably if you didn’t.”
The scene was previously teased in an August trailer for season 20, which promised fans that the family — including exes exes Meri, Janelle and Christine Brown — would be “more emotionally raw than ever.”
“In the wake of multiple separations, the family faces major turning points,” a synopsis read. “Meri dips her toe into dating with an awkward but promising speed dating event, while Janelle takes steps toward a spiritual divorce after a freeing trip to New Orleans. Christine and David are settling into married life, but Christine is shaken when her kids begin moving to North Carolina near Janelle, sparking jealousy and hurt.”

Robyn, whom Kody spiritually wed in 2010 before legally marrying in 2014, already talked the potential of a future plural marriage with Kody in season 20 premiere of Sister Wives. At the time, Kody brought up how a relative asked Robyn if they were still in a plural marriage. “I wasn’t quite sure what to say to him,” Robyn admitted. “I didn’t want to speak for you. I feel like if this is still something that’s a part of me, then wouldn’t I live it?”
Robyn later explained that if “there was somebody who was really supportive and really wanted to work and really wanted a relationship with me as well as with you, not just you, and then we had a guarantee that it was going to be OK and it was going to be wonderful and it was going to be what I always dreamed it was supposed to be,” then she would consider plural marriage again more seriously.

The two eventually agreed that sex “wasn’t a good enough reason” to put their marriage at risk. “So, it’s you and me, baby. Monogamy, does it work for you? Will it work for you?” Kody eventually asked as Robyn answered, “Sounds good. … It sounds good, I’m good.”
Sister Wives has documented the ups and downs of the Brown family since 2010. Kody and Christine were the first to announce their split in 2021, before he and Janelle confirmed they were separated the next year. Days later, PEOPLE confirmed that his 32-year marriage with first wife Meri was also over. He and Robyn are now in a monogamous relationship.
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
