Fyre Festival’s Billy McFarland Claps Back After City Officials Say He Has No Permit for New Concert
Fyre Festival is finally delivering on its promise of music.
The doomed Bahamas music festival organized by Billy McFarland and Ja Rule is being brought to the stage in the form of a new musical called Fyre Fest The Musical, with Rita Ora and Taika Waititi serving as producers for the project.
Bryan Buckley, who has directed some 65 Super Bowl commercials, will serve as both director and writer for the musical, with frequent Adele collaborator Paul Epworth penning the music for the production.
“I never saw myself doing a theatrical musical comedy,” Buckley said in a statement obtained by People. “But then again, I never saw something completely mind-bendingly ridiculous and intriguing as what went down with Fyre Festival, a spectacular failed endeavor, that will haunt a generation forever.”
“I cannot wait to get this show out to the world,” the two-time Academy Award nominee added. “And yeah man, this time there will actually be music or your money back.”
