Nothing gets by Rihanna!
The nine-time Grammy winner, 37, hilariously responded to a meme about boyfriends enjoying “bad” photos of their girlfriends, which used a zoomed-in photo of the singer as the background of the post in attempt to back up the claim.
“Women don’t realize how much their boyfriends love ‘bad’ photos of them,” read the Instagram caption shared by the popular meme account, “fembase,” with 543K followers on Thursday, Nov. 20.

The photo used in the background was a close-up shot of Rihanna performing at the V Festival in 2011, which went viral at the time for revealing a previously unnoticed scar on her chin. (The origin of the scar has not been publicly confirmed.)
Rihanna, who has a perplexed facial expression in the photo, rocked voluminous red curly hair and a smokey eye glam during the performance. She is seen wearing a low-cut, denim button-down shirt with several layers of chains and pearls around her neck.
Three days after the photo and caption were posted, the “Diamonds” singer commented.
“How I catch this stray tho?” she penned in the comment section on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Rihanna’s reaction to the post sent social media even further into a tizzy.
“It’s Rih commenting for me 🤣🤣🤣 I screamed when I saw it,” wrote one user.
“@badgalriri by carrying the whole music industry on your damn back!!” commented another in response to the hitmaker’s question.
“@badgalriri you are always stunning!” emphasized a third user.
“Rihanna commenting is taking me out,” commented a fourth.

The post’s lengthy caption explained the text about “bad” photos that overlayed the photo.
“Research and anecdotal evidence suggest that many men are drawn to candid or ‘imperfect’ photos of their girlfriends. These images can feel more authentic and intimate than highly polished shots,” the caption read.
“The appeal comes from emotional connection rather than aesthetics — seeing natural expressions or unfiltered moments often strengthens feelings of closeness and affection,” it continued.
“For some couples, sharing casual or spontaneous photos can actually deepen trust and connection, highlighting the value of authenticity over perfection,” the caption concluded.
The social media moment came one week after Rihanna made a fashion-forward appearance alongside her partner, A$AP Rocky, on Sunday, Nov. 16.
The couple, who were close friends for nearly a decade before their longtime friendship blossomed into romance, were photographed in matching monochromatic looks as they stepped out for dinner together on a rainy evening at Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif.
Rihanna and Rocky welcomed their third baby, daughter Rocki Irish, in September.
