Richard Gere’s sons had a memorable 4th of July this year.
The actor’s wife, Alejandra Gere, 42, shared a series of photos and videos on her Instagram as she recounted her 4th of July spent with her family. In one photo, one of Richard and Alejandra’s sons could be seen standing in front of a firework display, pointing in awe.
Other snaps show their family enjoying the fireworks and then walking along a beach another day. “First 4th of July in town, and what a day to remember 🇺🇸✨,” Alejandra wrote in her post.
“We spent the morning at the beach soaking up the sun, and ended it under the stars watching our kids see fireworks for the very first time—eyes wide with wonder, hearts full,” she continued. “Grateful for moments like this, for community, and for the magic of childhood.”
“Happy Independence Day! 🎆❤️🤍💙 .”

Richard shares sons Alexander, 6, and James, 5, with Alejandra. He is also dad to son Homer, 25, from a previous relationship, and Alejandra is to mom to son Albert from a previous relationship.
In May, Richard shared a rare family snap to Instagram featuring himself, his wife Alejandra, and their two young sons all wearing matching hoodies to support a nonprofit close to their hearts.
In the snap, which was shared by both the actor and his wife, the family donned grey hoodies in support of Open Arms, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting those “who try to reach Europe by sea, fleeing from armed conflict, persecution or poverty,” according to its website.
Both Gere and the activist were photographed smiling for the pic, as their two sons had their backs turned to the camera, showing off their matching Open Arms merch with a pup behind them all.
“This whole family is a proud supporter of @openarms_fund and their mission to save lives. ♥️,” the joint post was captioned.
Earlier this year, Alejandra shared some insight into the family’s life in Spain and Gere’s role as a dad while speaking with ELLE España. “Richard is a very devoted and present father. He loves to read them stories. It seems like an idyllic photo, but it’s true. He’s a great dad,” Silva said. “He doesn’t cook. I do it, but when I cook, he plays the guitar.”
“The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum. We are happier than ever,” Gere also said. “[Alejandra], because she is at home and I because, if she is happy, I am happy.”
Following their late 2024 move, Alejandra spoke with the Daily Mail about how long they intend to reside in Spain for, confirming that they’ll be there “for a few years” before making their way back to the U.S. eventually. “For a few years [we’ll live in Spain], and then come back,” she said. “But we’re always coming back. We’ll come back here in the summer because we have the kids at camp. We just have to balance our lives there and here.”
