The Summer I Turned Pretty cast is returning to Cousins Beach for one last time.
In March 2025, when they released the season’s first look photos, Prime Video also announced that the hit drama based on Jenny Han’s trilogy series will conclude with its long-awaited third season in July. The author told Entertainment Weekly that fans should expect surprises — even if they think they know how the story will end.
The series follows an ongoing love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and brothers Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), whose families vacation together every summer in Cousins Beach, Mass. At the end of season 2, Belly chose Jeremiah over his older brother.
“There’s so many amazing scenes for Belly and Jeremiah this season, so many,” Han told Entertainment Weekly.
But don’t count Conrad out just yet. Though Han revealed that he had been “away from everyone” for a while, he’s still very much a part of season 3. “People will see the ways that he’s changed and he’s seeing the ways that Belly and Jeremiah — and Steven [Sean Kaufman] — have changed as well,” the author said.
Ahead, here’s everything we know about the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 is based on Han’s third and final novel in the franchise, We’ll Always Have Summer. The book takes place two years after the events of It’s Not Summer Without You as Belly once again finds herself questioning where her heart lies between the Fisher brothers. Only in the third book, she finally makes a decision.
Though season 2 strays from the books in various ways, when PEOPLE spoke with the cast in June 2023, they all reiterated that a third season would likely follow the third book as much as possible.
“I know Jenny is really just strong on staying as true to the books as possible and hitting the main points,” Casalegno told PEOPLE. Meanwhile, Tung added, “There’s so many different ways you could go about it. There’s a blueprint of a book, which we’ve been lucky to have for two seasons now, just such a solid blueprint for us, and to have Jenny on set with us has been incredible.”
In her March 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Han teased that the third season will honor the book’s two-year time jump and have some “surprises.” Though she didn’t reveal much about the plot, Tung did say that she admired how the author would never “do anything that doesn’t make sense for the story.”
Is there a trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3?
Prime Video released the first teaser trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty in April 2025, picking up where season 2 left off when Belly chose Jeremiah over Conrad.
However, as the trailer shows, Belly is enjoying her relationship with Jeremiah in college until Conrad comes back into her life, turning her world upside down.
The teaser ends with the older Fisher brother arriving at the Cousins’ house as Belly opens the door for him. Like past trailers for the show, this one also featured multiple Taylor Swift songs.

Amazon
Amazon execs teased in September 2023 that there could be a spinoff series in the works. While talking with Deadline, Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, teased that Amazon was “already hard at work developing complementary pieces.”
