Is it just me or does anyone else have a hard time dress shopping?
As a result, I usually end up with one too many variations of a classic — the little black dress, or LBD — which, yes, is great and all, but sometimes they just feel too heavy, too dark, and too wintry. To my delight, it appears that fashion genius Reese Witherspoon may have solved my LDD: little dress dilemma.
Earlier this week in Cannes (and in May!), the Legally Blonde actress wore a white mini dress and not-so-little white heels, and her dress somehow managed to have everything I look for in one. It hid the belly area, covered the upper arms, and with the help of heels, made her legs look ultra-long. Plus, it was in a quintessential light, breezy summer color. Until now, I’ve been sleeping on little white dresses — but not anymore!

I shop for 8+ hours a day, and it was even difficult for me to find a dress like Witherspoon’s. In the end, it came down to a few things: Firstly, it had to hug the body in all my preferred areas and loosen or flare out near my midsection. And I also wanted short sleeves and a mid-thigh length, so I could feel the breeze on my elbows, knees, and anywhere in between.
Thankfully, this Dynamite dress met all of my criteria, and more, for under $100. I also geeked out over the puff sleeves. I’m a fan, and so is Witherspoon, but her even more so than I. The fabric also looks way thicker and nicer than some of the flimsy, see-through dresses I’ve bought and sent back in the past.

Witherspoon’s tall white heels look like they could be this $490 pair from Larroudé with asymmetrical ankle straps, bold buckles, and closed-toes, which are my go-to on days I forget to fix my pedicure. This pair from Journee is similar in most of those regards, though they’re a touch shorter, so they should be easier to walk in. They’re also bunion- and wide-foot-friendly, according to multiple shoppers, and they’re half-off, which is a really good steal.
