NEED TO KNOW
Adults is coming back for a second season — and the cast celebrated in the most fitting way possible.
On Thursday, Oct. 30, FX announced that its buzzy ensemble comedy, which follows the trials and tribulations of a group of twentysomethings in New York City and started streaming on Hulu earlier this year, will be returning in 2026. The cast, of course, broke the news via TikTok meme.
The show’s five main cast members — Malik Elassal, Lucy Freyer, Jack Innanen, Amita Rao and Owen Thiele — lip-synced to a viral remix of 4 Non Blondes’ “What’s Up?” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”
“season 2 baby we’re so back,” Thiele, 28, captioned the TikTok clip, while Freyer, 29, shared the news by writing on Instagram, “Here you go, ya freaks.”
The show, which first debuted on May 28, was described as a Gen Z version of Friends: the characters, not too far out of college, navigate the young adult challenges of dating mishaps, awkward dinner parties and insurance issues in the Big Apple.
In honor of the renewal news, FX released a video of its own with the cast members addressing fans’ desperate comments — including one that read “if we don’t get a renewal announcement soon i’m going to admit myself into a psych ward” — hoping for a season 2.

“Check yourself into the psych ward and hope that they have a good TV ‘cause we are coming back!” Rao, 27, jokes in the clip.
“Season 2 baby! Yeah!” exclaims Innanen, 26.
Though FX did not share any plot details about Adults’s second season, it will almost definitely address the cliffhanger kiss between characters Paul Baker (Innanen) and Anton (Thiele) — who technically end up as newlyweds to prevent Paul Baker’s deportation, even though Paul Baker is in a committed relationship with Issa (Rao).
While speaking to PEOPLE, Innanen reflected on how season 1 ended for the pair, who had grown increasingly closer throughout the series’ first eight episodes. “It was so fun getting to have that reward of Paul and Anton having that connection out in the open, also right in front of everyone ’cause it has been teased for a long time,” he said.

“I really hope for a season 2 because there’s so much to explore there,” Innanen continued. “The fact that Paul and Aton really see each other, I don’t see that ever going away.”
The show was created by executive producers and writers Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw, and Nick Kroll, Sarah Naftalis, Jonathan Krisel and Rob Rosell also served as executive producers.
“Ben and Rebecca are incredibly talented writers, and they have expertly and hilariously captured the experience of being a young adult in today’s world,” said FX’s Executive Vice President of Development Kate Lambert in a press release. “The entire cast — Malik, Lucy, Jack, Amita and Owen — is exceptional in bringing it to life in a way that has truly connected with its audience.”
