NEED TO KNOW
Though it didn’t make it in the film, the members of O.A.R. will always be proud that they contributed to Edward and Bella’s love story.
The ’90s rock band recently caught up with PEOPLE to reflect on their upcoming 30-year anniversary and discuss their plans for the future. Over the last three decades, O.A.R. songs have been placed in iconic films and TV shows like She’s the Man and 90210 — and they almost made it into Twilight.
“We did make a song for that movie,” Marc Roberge, 47, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
“So they did take our song and put it on the deluxe DVD, and that is such a cool thing. If you’re in Australia and you’re digging through DVDs, you’re going to find this song on there,” he says of bonus track “Love Is Worth the Fall.”

For the band, which also includes Jerry DePizzo, Richard On and Chris Culos, this was “one of our proudest moments that almost was even bigger.”
“I remember when we were at the meeting with Catherine Hardwicke, the director, and I stepped out of the meeting to call my wife and said, ‘Have you ever heard of Twilight?’ And she said, ‘Get your ass back in that meeting right now and do the song,'” Roberge adds.
With so many memories to look back on, O.A.R. is ready to make more as they gear up for their Three Decades Tour, which kicks off in June 2026 in Colorado.
“I got to say, we watched the 20-year mark go by. We watched the 25-year mark go by during the pandemic and thought, ‘Well, there’s not a lot to celebrate right now, so let’s just kind of keep on rolling.’ And as we approach this 30-year mark, we felt that it’s not even so much — it’s not just looking all the way back, it’s looking back just a couple of years as well,” Roberge says.
As for the setlist, fans can expect a mix of old and new from the band, who dropped a new single “Where We Are Right Now” on Oct. 30.
“We’ll be out there playing all of the songs that O.A.R. fans know and love throughout the decades,” DePizzo adds. “And then we’ve also been working really hard in the studio for new material as well. So while we’re going to be reaching for what we’ve done in the past and celebrating that stuff, we always have our eyes towards the future and we have a lot of great new material to share with everybody too.”

Since the band first formed in Rockville, Md. in 1996, they’ve earned numerous platinum and gold certifications across 10 studio albums and six live albums for songs like “Shattered (Turn the Car Around),” “Love and Memories” and “Hey Girl.”
“We were friends before we were in the band, which isn’t as common,” Culos says. “It’s not as common to be like, ‘Oh, you guys were just friends from the neighborhood. You grew up together, you all went to the same school, and you just wanted to put together a band because you love music and you just thought it would be fun to do with your best friends and then go off to college and really give it a shot together.'”
He adds, “And through that, just the lifelong friendship and to now be looking back on what feels like this lifelong career — that’s really special and unique.”
