Natalie Portman is Role Model’s latest “Sally.”
While performing his viral hit “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” at Madison Square Garden on Monday, July 28, Role Model brought out Portman, 44, to dance with him onstage.
The moment itself went viral quickly on TikTok and soon spread to Instagram after a Role Model fan page published it there. The singer, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, 28, shared the clip on his Instagram Stories, adding the caption “Sally Portman.”
Portman and Pillsbury have connected in New York as costars on Good Sex, which just began filming in the Big Apple. The romantic comedy is being directed by Lena Dunham and also stars Meg Ryan, Rashida Jones, Mark Ruffalo and Tramell Tillman. Pillsbury is making his acting debut in the project.
Good Sex stars Portman as Ally, a couples therapist who spent 10 years in a failed relationship. As she turns 40, she decides to head back into the New York dating scene, only to meet a man in his 20s and a man in his 50s. They show her “there is no set formula for good sex,” per the movie’s logline.
“Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” became a viral hit soon after its release in February, when it was featured on the deluxe edition of Role Model’s album Kansas Anymore. During the Feb. 27 Dallas stop of Role Model’s No Place Like Tour, influencer Jake Shane came on stage as Pillsbury performed the song.
“People loved it — like, lost it,” Pillsbury told Billboard in May. “We were like, ‘Why not do this every night? We don’t need a cameo. It will be fun to do a Justin Bieber “One Less Lonely Girl”-type of moment.’ ”
Since then, Pillsbury has welcomed a lucky fan to dance with him during “Sally.” At one of his shows at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern in April, Reneé Rapp played “Sally.”
