NEED TO KNOW
Miranda Lambert and MuttNation are helping those in need amid the devastating Texas floods.
On Saturday, July 5, the country star and Texas native posted on Instagram that she and her nonprofit are working on supporting the pet community affected by the unprecedented rainfall and subsequent flooding.
“Hey y’all. Just wanted to jump on here and say how devastated we are to hear about the floods in south and central Texas. I can’t even come up with any words for the loss that everybody’s suffering,” Lambert, 41, began in the video.
“MuttNation Foundation is working really closely with Kerrville Pets Alive as we speak to try to get more info and figure out where the needs are to support the pet community and pet owners in the disaster. We will have more info as it goes, but I’ll post everything that I know to post right now.”
“So y’all join with us and try to help out as much as you can and keep sending prayers and I’ll keep you posted,” concluded Lambert.
She also shared ways to help the animals impacted by the floods on her Instagram Stories, such as fostering, volunteering with transporting supplies and remote data entry, dropping off supplies at shelters, reporting missing and found pets and donating.
Fans can donate through MuttNation’s website and Instagram with a goal of raising $15K. As of publishing, the foundation has raised over $14K.

Per MuttNation’s website, the nonprofit “has raised over $11 million and assisted more than 1,000 shelters” since its founding in 2009.
Its mission is to “support the adoption of shelter pets, advance spay & neuter, educate the public about the benefits of these actions, and provide assistance to shelters during times of natural disaster.”

Flooding in Texas began on July 4 when intense rainfall caused the Guadalupe River outside of San Antonio to overflow and flood parts of Central Texas. As of publishing, the death toll from the Texas floods has reached 89, according to The Associated Press. Dozens of people are still reported missing.
Camp Mystic, a major site affected by the flash flooding, lost 27 campers and counselors, according to their website. “We ask for your continued prayers, respect and privacy for each of our families affected,” the camp posted. “May the Lord continue to wrap His presence around all of us.”
Lambert told PEOPLE in November about being able to share her passion for MuttNation with her mom, Beverly June Lambert.
“It’s cool to be able to share passion with your mom, and she’s been my biggest fan and biggest supporter,” the country star said at the time.
“But [MuttNation is] something that brings us together on a human level. It’s out of the glamour, out of the glitz. It’s just about a passion of doing good for the world and saving animals.”
