Could Hannah Montana (Miley’s Version) happen?
Miley Cyrus said she wasn’t allowed to perform Hannah Montana songs after the Disney Channel series ended, but that recently changed.
During an appearance on the Every Single Album podcast, the singer and actress, 32, revealed, “After I left Disney, I wasn’t allowed to perform any of the Hannah Montana music.”
Further explaining, “It’s not like I wanted to. I mean, performing ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ between ‘We Can’t Stop’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’ wouldn’t have really made sense,” Cyrus continued, “But it was still sad knowing those songs have my voice, my face, and I wasn’t allowed to sing them.”
“But after being inducted as a Disney Legend, I was given permission to perform those songs in the future, which is pretty cool,” added the star, referring to the honor she received last year.

Hannah Montana also starred Cyrus’ real-life dad Billy Ray Cyrus as her dad on the show, as well as Jason Earles as her older brother, plus Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso, who played her best friends.

Cyrus made history as the youngest person ever to be named a Disney Legend — an honor bestowed on individuals who have significantly influenced the company — in August 2024.
During a speech at a D23 event in Anaheim, Calif., the Something Beautiful musician teared up as the audience roared with applause for her. “A little bit of everything has changed, … but at the same time, nothing has changed at all,” Cyrus said. “I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana.”
“In so many ways, his award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality. To quote the legend herself, ‘This is the life,’ ” she added.

Cyrus previously spoke about how she was open to reprising the role of Hannah on the Carolina with Greg T in the Morning radio show in 2020.
“You know what honestly, I try to put that wig on all the time. She’s just in storage collecting dust, and I’m ready to whip her out … The opportunity will present itself,” she said at the time. “I definitely would like to resurrect her at some point. She needs a big makeover because she’s kinda stuck in 2008, so we’ll need to go shopping with Miss Montana.”
