NEED TO KNOW
MGK is opening up about his life as a girl dad.
After growing up with a complicated family dynamic, becoming a father himself has redefined what family means to him.
“It recharges your will-to-live battery and recertifies your you-have-a-purpose-here sticker,” the “Cliché” singer, 35, says in the new issue of PEOPLE.
MGK (born Colson Baker) is dad two daughters Casie, 16, from a previous relationship, and Saga Blade, 4 months, whom he welcomed with actress Megan Fox in March.
The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter will release his seventh and most ambitious album yet, Lost Americana, on Friday, Aug. 8. “Both my daughters love [it],” MGK says. “Well, one can’t use words yet, but the smiles that I get whenever I play it would indicate that there’s a fondness of it.”

And while she’s just a teenager, Casie is “not only one of my biggest supporters but a big advisor for me,” MGK adds of his elder daughter, who watched her dad hustling in the music industry from a young age. “She’s actually saved me from making some career mistakes. She’s been invested in this since she was a kid, because she grew up in it, so there’s a passion that she has. It’s a really good aid.”
MGK and Casie recently stepped out for a father-daughter date at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on June 21. Before introducing his performance of Lost Americana single “Cliché,” Casie opened up to PEOPLE about their bond.
“[He] definitely gives a lot of advice. He’s more like a hype man, though,” she told PEOPLE on the red carpet, adding that MGK — who told PEOPLE on the carpet that he’s her “cheerleader” — encourages her to be “myself.”

At the time, MGK also opened up about how baby Saga was settling in at home.
“Megan is in the no-sleep club, for sure,” he told PEOPLE of Fox. “Women are in the rougher trenches of the newborn process, but my specialty is music and laughs and whatever I can do to make her smile and kind of get introduced to the world with love.”
