NEED TO KNOW
Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs are heading back to Runway magazine.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, 20th Century Studios released a first look at The Devil Wears Prada 2, the highly anticipated and long-awaited sequel to 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada that sees the return of original cast members Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt.
The trailer shows Streep’s fearsome Miranda stepping into an elevator at the fictional Runway magazine’s offices — Andy joins her just before the doors close — as it teases stylish and dramatic moments from the long-awaited sequel. The studio behind the movie has not yet put out an official synopsis, just a simple call back to the first film: “Gird your loins.”

Based on Lauren Weisberger’s book of the same name, The Devil Wears Prada follows Andy Sachs (Hathaway, 42), a recent college graduate eager to pursue a career in journalism. Andy ends up working as a junior assistant for Miranda Priestly (Streep, 76), the editor-in-chief of Runway, a fictional high-fashion magazine.
Throughout the movie, Andy struggles to meet the demands of her job while maintaining her relationship with her boyfriend (Adrian Grenier, who is not returning for the sequel) and co-workers, Emily (Blunt, 42) and Nigel (Tucci, 64).

According to Variety, The Devil Wears Prada 2 follows Priestly “as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and as she faces off against Blunt’s character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.”
New cast members include Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon and Broadway stars Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora. According to a press release, actors Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will also reprise their roles as “Lily” and “Irv” from the original movie.
Liu, 56, spoke with PEOPLE on Sept. 16, at the Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program luncheon in New York City, about what it meant to her to join the sequel.
“I had a great time and it was really fun, and it’s always nice to be part of something that people are excited about and that is connected to fashion,” said the actress. “Fashion can be so many things — it can be political, and it can be whimsical. That, to me, is what’s fun about a movie like that, that’s more classic than you would think.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in theaters May 1, 2026.
